My passenger side window has decided to stop dipping down when im trying to open the door by pressing the button under the side mirror or by pressing the interior button. The normal window buttons still work ok. Does anyone know how to easily fix it myself? I suspect its a fuse somewhere. Cheers. Lee

Thanks for the info bob.

Is it simple enough to fix myself? If so how?

The button under the mirror unlatches the door but does drop the window, therefore preventing access.

Anyone that might know how to fix it I be happy to hear. thanks. Lee

The door has its own ECU in the footwell. I think that tells the window to drop before the door opens. Try waggling the wires?

Alternatively ; but not sure on this, there is a microswitch in the door by the lock.
Its a small Burgess switch which does not like the rain for too long.
Lean against the door with your weight then open with button and release your weight slowly, and push the window down(they some times go really slow if not used frequently)it might be all it needs to get it going again; you should also hear the micro switch click as the door comes open of its latch.
Good luck

hi lee
have you fixed the problem yet ?? i am talking about the 3 buttons on the left side of the radio the 2 buttons that make the window move up and down see if 1 or both are stuck (look at the other 2 on the right side and see if in same position?)mine got stuck in the in position so the window would not close also 1 other tip that might help when the door is closed on the side that you have the problem push the door firmley while closed to make sure of good contact on all electrical parts on the door catch good luck

just bumping this up again to see if anyone else has had this experience..

2 problems;

1. Passenger window wont dip when opening door from inside or outside. Door does open but window stays up in seal therefore preventing the door being opened. (up/down window buttons by the radio work fine)

2. Drivers window; Up button by radio does not work now... window works fine going down, or dipping when opening/closing the door and goes up ok when putting the alarm on.

Im going to speak to the dealer today but if its a simple fix that I could do I will so I dont waste my 5k limited mileage on a 80+ mile round trip on the m25 to the dealer.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks
Lee

no I havn't tried that, I must admit im a bit worried about causing more harm than good... after the drivers door went up the spout when I was trying to fix the passengers door.

Ive booked her into the TVR centre on saturday to hopefully be fixed while i wait... they said it could be a 'window encoder' that might have gone wrong??? Apparently its quite rare for Sagaris windows to play up like this...

Hopefully it'll get sorted on saturday. (fingers crossed)

Thanks
Lee

so I can have a quick look tonight, where exactly is the ECU?

Is it somewhere in the passenger footwell? How do i get to it?

Lee,

I had a similar problem with my Sag a couple of weeks ago.

When you have managed to get the window down a bit, and the door open, does the dash display register that the door is open ?

My drivers window stopped dropping, and if I got in the passenger side, dropped the window witht he buttons att the side of the radio, and then opened the drivers door, it was showing as open on the display.

Turned out to be the micro switch in the drivers door lock.

To get tto this, you need to take the silver plate off the lock on the rear 3/4. And then un do all the allen key bolts. At this point it will all fall apart, but I couldnt find a better way of stripping it down.

Theres a metal leg on the micro switch that had fallen off, I clipped it back in place and put it all back together, and it all seems to be working fine now.

To get into the back of the lock you will need to remove the trim panel that the seat belt goes into (3 self tapping screws and a good pull at the top) and pull the carpet away from the roll cage behind this panel. You should be able to get your hand in to put he locking mechanisum back together.

A bit fiddly, but didnt take me too long.

Garry

Thanks for the instructions Garry, ill be printing them out to read when I try it.

I'll hopefully try fix it tonight but Ive got a meeting with my accountant tonight so will more likely be tomorrow now.

Failing that ill just take it back to the dealers...

Ill let you know how I get on.

Thanks very much.
Lee.

Lee,

I know its a Tuscan, but lots of similar problems with mine, always either the ecu's getting tied up with where they are and where they think the window is or the encoder in the door having some water on it.

Dont know where they are in the sag door but if the door card is as easy to take off as the Tuscan then i just removed it and sprayed it with Damp start. Dried the PCB and coats it in a silicon layer to protect from more damp..

The window ecu's sometimes think my window is down already so wont bother dropping it to open the doors, even though its up. I have found having ign on and winding window fully down then back up and then getting out locking the car seems to sort out the ecus thinking of the windows position. I think they are all done with positional encoders iirc. Failing that again find the ECU for said door, have window up and disconnect the ecu from its plug then re apply it. Can also reset them.

Lots of threads in the Tuscan forum on this though, seems to be a tuscan bain more than others.

Let us know if you do come upto Barnet and I will run back down with you if thats still ok for sat before the Re-run? Or I dont mind bringing screwdriver and having a look myself on sat.

It is a bit of a TVR thing: had an intermittent problem with the Driver side window: turned out the connector for the wiring inside the door had taken some water onto the contacts, which had corroded and parted.
Usual stuff, three bolts off the bottom of the door, door card out, find connector and find loose wire, fix.
