Hi Welcome to PH,

You don't give an indication of where your looking but if you instance you were looking at the PH clasifieds here: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/list.asp?s=140 then you will see some are being sold privately and some are dealers, milage, colour, engine spec, warrenty (third party) all make a difference on price.

Good choice. thumbup

As David says there will be a lot of variation. Each car is unique. Best option is to go and check out a few.

Just to let you know Vicky the Tamora is perfection on four wheels I've owned most and driven all with one exception the Sagg but you can not remove the roof on that motor.
Have a good look round the dealers you will find a nice car, make sure you get one with Air/Con its a must have extra.
Try Henley Heritage they are very good.

Give Peter a ring at Dream Machines; Tony and his team are always very helpful.
The gave me a great deal when trading in my Merc SLK350 for my T350C and i have tried loads of cars since i bought it a year ago (Ferraris, Porsche 911s including GT3, and many others) and i have yet to find any other car to put such a smile on my face when i drive it or even look at it (sad or what !) I only want to try one more: a new Bristol Fighter S but at £258,000 its unlikely i'll be buying one !
Please try the Tamora, T350, Tuscan S, and Sagaris and decide which one suits you
Regards
Andy

The Tamora received a (fairly mild) facelift around 2003, which is probably why you are seeing a range of prices.
Some pre-2003 cars will have been sold & registered after the new look arrived so the apparent randomness to the prices.

Assuming the car hasn't had a new nose, one easy way to tell is to look at the front sidelights / foglights.
If they are mounted one above the other then its an old style car.
If they are off-set / diagonal then its a new car.
[Note to anoraks (aren't we all!): let's not confuse anyone by getting into the foglight -v- driving light -v- sidelight debate!]

In general, though, the newer the car the better.

Go along to your local TVR Car Club meet and ask for opinions.
As a lotus driver you will be particularly well received, I would think.

I would agree with the above as well and Dream machines should give you a reasonable deal on the lotus as they are dealers.
Only thing is I have just bought the last Tamora they had for sale (or in the showroom anyway!) Sorry to gloat but I can't wait to pick it up this week.

Good Morning All,

Firstly thanks for all your comments and advice it's been very helpful and much appreciated.

Only problem is I am now torn between the Tamora & T350 after doing a bit more homework! (Your thoughts on this matter would me most appreciated please)

As you all suggested I will contact DREAM MACHINES etc and pop along to a couple of local dealers to give them both a test drive and also get in touch with my nearest TVR Owners club to see when their next meet is!

Thanks again

Vicky

I would say this Vicky.....The T350 is a fantastic machine but imho sportscars should invariably have the option of going topless to enjoy the sun/ noise!

When I had my chimaera I owned it for a short time but took the roof off all the time in winter and it was amazing, best driving experiance I have ever had....to date!

By the way Dream machines have a fantastic Tuscan on an 02 plate for 20k which has the option of soft/hard tops which might suit?

Vicky,

read all the good comments on the TVR forums that have given advice to prospective owners. thay are intoxicating cars that are completely unique (as are individual cars) but they can cost alot to keep on the road.

take a driving and fall in love

I hate to ask this question as its been done so many times, but do Tamoras suffer the same blight with engine problems that the Tuscans do?

If so, is there a safe time, after which you are highly unlikely to have them (either in terms of mileage covered or rebuild / manufacture year?)

I Used to have a Cerby - and still hankering after a TVR, just wondering how safe an option a Tam is compared to an AJP'd Cerby. Always had a soft spot for Tam.

And, of course, its important to know for anyone that is looking to buy one wink
