i want to kill someone, didnt realise how frustrating this would be!

problem after problem, tvrpower (who have the engine) are saying it will be done by end of next week then back to the garage who have the car, anyone know how long it takes to refit and get one of these engines up and running again? a day or two?

im so tempted to the thing off and buy something boring and reliable if it doesnt come home mint!

my hairs are turning grey!!!! frown

Took my dealer about 2 days to carefully refit and tune/check the engine.

A little bird told me that TVR Power may sometimes treat 'third party' orders and rebuilds as a lower priority than their own. This is a problem where the major parts/engine supplier is also in the business of the people it supplies to.

However, you may just be suffering from summer shutdown blues. I'm sure your garage are just as fed up.

hang in there my man, I know what it feels like, but it will be worth it when you get it back. Expect a couple of minor teething niggles also(from re-fitting engine) but once sorted you will be happy....

good luck.

Remember you have CF spark plug cover to fit too!

i don't want to cause any trouble with this comment but why do people take there cars to other TVR dealers when TVR Power seems to do all the major work any way. would it not be best just for everyone to take the cars directly to them? even if its a bit of a journey? sounds like it still would be quicker and cheaper......in the long run

also i don't have any connecton with TVR power i just use them for all my work on my TVR and are extreamly pleased with there level of service and work....

also i'm sorry for you it has taken so long to get it sorted out, i'm sure it will be worth the wait...

well when your over 300 miles away and the car is a non runner then it can be a bit awkward.

Having had mine off the road for 3 months I really do sympathise, what seems a week soon turns into many more. hang on in there it will be worth it I'm sure.

on another note, when my engine was at TVR power a while ago, after 3 days my missus who then worked at Racing Green asked how the engine they had sent up was looking, after being told it was still on the pallet she enlightened them it was her's and could they pull their fingers out. We had the engine back in the car within a week, sometimes it does pay who you know......

I feel for you bloke, really I do. The factory had my T350 wice for warranty work of which they said would be four days which turned out to be over four weeks in both instances. Only went back the second time 'cus they phucked up on the first! I know it doesn't help much, but to soften the blow, you're not alone. Though in reality it shouldn't be, and I remember wanting to throttle some tt for spinning me a line day after day. Hang on in there bloke and make a nuisance of yourself. After three and a half months is inexcusable.

I realise as the customer you are feeling the pain here but surely this sort of time is taking the pi55?

There are only so many S6 engines out there, some earlier ones have already been put right. The later ones are supposedly more reliable so won't need attention yet(?) leaving a certain number. There are now more people than ever to go to have a rebuild done, how can this sort of delay be justified?

I have never understood why TVR owners are expected to suffer this level of service(?) and pay through the nose for the privelege - virtually everything to do with these cars is overpriced. Maybe the people involved just think they can get away with it and do.

Took Richard at Dulfords 4 weeks to strip my original engine down then rebuild with upgraded parts to 4.0L RR Spec. In that time the engine was sent to be machined and balanced. 4 weeks thumbup

not sure why it takes so long tbh? when i rebuilt my last engine (not tvr) the longest thing I had to wait for was the JE forged pistons, because they came from USA. All my machining work was back with me the same week, and the only other thing that took its time was the actual rebuild itself as i only got the spare time in evenings after work. But with all the right bits ready to go on, it shouldnt take longer than a day or two to rebuild an engine, and thats with taking lots of time to make sure everyting is mic'd up right etc. Of course it certain parts are not available as they come from 3rd parties, then thats when it gets held up.

This is unacceptable and thats what gives TVR and the service of them a bad name. Phone them and complain immediately.

I went through very similar last year clutch, engine rebuild etc etc, I was without my car for close on six months, in the end I was so fed up with all the agro and forever worried about it breaking down again I was beaten and had to sell.... Im sure the new owner got a well sorted car but I couldn't take anymore... such a shame....yet I still read and review the latest on TVR what is it about these bloody cars

good luck with it, hope you get back soon all sorted

If your 'garage' is an Indie, then I'm really surprised they're not giving TVR Power some ear-ache every day.
If they aren't, ask them why they don't want your future business!!!
If your 'garage' is a main dealer, I guess you're learning the hard way never to use them again!

You have my sincere sympathy. Hope it's fixed soon.

And why can;t TVR Power operate a simple first-in, first-out procedure?

Is there such a thing as a TVR dealer today?

I struggle to see how it can be the Indie's fault that the engine was placed in a queue at Power. No-one likes to be without their car for long, but it must surely be better to get things sorted correctly, than to have the car returned bodged.

I also firmly believe that it is hugely unwise to be rude to anyone who is alone with your food in a restaurant!!

to sort out any confusion, the car has been at the indie since may, ie 11 weeks to figure out the real problem and do a service and clutch, then sent the engine to power, they only recieved the engine from them 3 weeks ago to do a full rebuild, yesterday it went back ot the indie and now im just waiting on it going back in the car.
