Hey

Right i was at Trax silverstone yesterday and did some track time and 0-60 sprint times.

Now i must admit i aint to sure how to get take off down to a fine art yet so my times were around the 5.02 second mark but i spent the ENTIRE time from go to 75mph spinning the rear wheels.

I was holding it at 4000rpm and dropping clutch and going for it...

Any advice on how to get that time down to low 4seconds? Whats best way to get the grip and power down? All advice appreciated

I've always found with tivs the best way is start off like miss daisy and then floor it.

im no expert but i usually do spin them a bit to get the thing going then feather the throttle to stop the spinning wheels and get maximum grip once off the line then foot to the floor.

nice picture!

Have a look at the launches of my T350 at Fighting Torque on PH TV under "T350 Flying the SP6 Flag". This was dropping the clutch at 3.5 to 4k revs and then flooring it.

Ah o.k i will have a look at that thread.

I just found it so hard... I seem to be constantly sliding left and right trying to get grip. I just dont think there was much grip that day at all.

So maybe pull of a little slower so shes moving then give it some

Replace the bonnet badge with an enamel version, this will help keep the nose down

Did you do a burn out to warm the tyres up first. Not exactly ideal but will give better launch.

Nah they were complaining about people doing that which was annoying. Wish i did anyway.

Might be worth spending £800 for traction control system.

nah just give it time and train those feet of yours, you will get more satisfaction doing it yourself, it took me a couple of months to 'get it right' with the footwork on the long travel pedals.

That isn't going to help much; what you really want is launch control, and the ones you'll get in that price range won't help much either.

Just learn to judge the amount of grip and develop the throttle and clutch control skills to avoid wheelspin and you will do fine.

Burn outs do not help road tyres it is only very soft compound drag tyres that benifit .
