I know i've only had the car a week but I was wondering are there any upgrades /tweaks you people would recommend?

I have the sports exhaust and am going to get rid of the front number plate for cooling reasons (getting a sticky one instead) but any other suggestions?

Anyone recommend the coolant wetter to lower the running temp? Will I have to change this in the winter to get proper warmth coming through the vents?

Your help as ever is appreciated!

Water wetter - used it for the last year, does lower temp by a few degrees which is useful for warm trackdays. Won't affect heater for winter. smile

If you haven't already, look at this post.

When you have stuck a number plate on the front could you post a picture. Will be interested to see what it looks like. Thinking of doing it myself.

I am also wondering whether the nitron suspension is a good mod as on smooth roads the car is fine but on some of the shitty sussex roads it does move about a bit, i want a bit more compliance in the settings if you all know what I mean!?

Fitted Nitrons to Tamora after Guy at Nitron did conversion/refurb from Chimaera fitting. Well worth the money at just over £1k. Also told that earlier cars sit low on bump stops at front which makes car skittish on braking and bumpy roads, there is a mod to lift front and help this issue.

Mine did this until I took it to Top Cats Racing. They did a proper Geometry set up and fitted Nitrons. The difference is unbelievable.

I believe after about 04 the front was raised as standard, Richard at TrackVRoad mentioned the mod but have never tried to modify our own just fitted New Nitrons as saved issues with worn shocks . Dom at Power should also be able to help with further advice.

On speaking with Dream Machines it seems I have the Gaz shocks which is why it sits so low...so low in fact I can't even see if I can adjust them or not!!

Neill Anderson who designed the suspension told me that it definitely worked slightly better at the 10mm higher (later) setting, which put the lower wishbones close to parallel with the ground as well as giving more ground clearance for the nose.

He'd designed it to work most effectively at this height, but the factory had bowed to pressure from many dealers to lower it as they reckoned it looked better in the showroom. rolleyes

Welcome hongkongfool (have you joined the owners register yet (www.tvrtamora.com). Ours is set at 10mm because I met neil anderson when the car was being build and he supplied the approach angle drawings that I have, which were needed to work out what angle to build our drive at. Neil knew his stuff, so yes I think mine looks a little high, but it handles like a dream.

So is this a modification that you can do yourself or spend an hour or so's labour charge getting done?

If going to aftermarket shocks £1000 is a bit more than I want to spend, anything good around the £500 mark? Also when getting them fitted any idea of labour hours?

Thanks

Had this problem with my Tam. Did a brake test before I bought the car, and locked up up the front wheels as the front suspension was hitting the bump stops. Got it raised up and the Geometry re-aligned. Think it cost about £200. It may cost more if the pre-load adjuster rings are seized.

Think its fairly easy to do yourself, (if the rings are not seized) but I was advised that a full Geo setup was needed as the front of the car was being raised up.

Definitely. Choice depends on what you want to do. It makes me laugh when suppliers talk about setting the car for smooth OR rough roads. Obviously they've never driven in North Yorks - where smooth roads become gravel traps overnight (viz A59!). If you're planning lots of track time, Nitrons are approx £1100inc. Theres also reams on here about +/- of cheaper adjustables (Gaz/Protech/etc.). I went for the new Bilsteins (from TVR Power). They are non-adjustable (well, not easily) - but then I'm not planning track days - and are £517inc - best to fit new springs too, which brings it to approx £700inc. THEN, if you're still not happy go and get the geo set up (next service?). I noticed immediate and significant improvement over OE parts
