Reverse gear on the Tam has recently been hard to engage. Today, though, it was extremly hard to engage. When eventually it did go into gear, on moving, it jumped out of gear with a grind. This now happens all the time. All forward gears are fine with no difficulty at all which makes me think the clutch is fine but maybe reverse gear has gone. Any ideas?

Sounds silly but this happened to me, the alarm sensor had become loose and jammed itself at the front of the gearstck stopping me engaging reverse. If you let the 2 front screws go you can just lift the trim high enough to have a look.

An outside possibilty (and one that may well be poo pooed) is that an engine mount has gone which has allowed the engine to shift screwing things up back down the line and causing the gear stick to foul on the stick surround.

Would definitely spend 10 mins checking the alarm sensor possibility first!!

Thanks for the suggestion. No problem with the engine mounts.
