Couldn't you just have joined the AA? They would have taken the car to the garage of your choice.

The AA won't cross the Solent. Sso we would have had to have trailered the car to the mainland no matter what. Driving it with the massive coolant leak was not an option.

i did wonder whether it would be too wide for the trailer.

Exactly- if you contact them they ll say we ll invetigate- if coolant leak they happily take it to the local radiator service--- not an option been there...
