So, i'm currently driving a new shape Audi TT 3.2. Great car, goes well, sounds good, lots of toys, but, well, it's a TT.

So being ill over the weekend and sat at home on t'interweb, i've refound my love of the Sagaris.

Will someone please tell me that it's not as practical as the TT. That it won't be a practical day to day and commuting car covering 12,000 miles a year including trips from London to Edinburgh, that i won't have a smile on my face everytime i look outside?

Oh dear.

Seriously though, aside from servicing costs, which i understand are fairly reasonable. How much do you need to put aside a year to keep a Sagaris on the road? I.e. how many niggly little faults need fixing!

Re paragraph 3 - no, I won't.

However it is a completely different car to the TT, it's like trying to compare Courteney Cox with Courtney Love. You'll find the Sag frighteningly quicker than your TT, much noisier and very raw and it will lead you into trouble on the road rather than get you out of it.

I'd say you need to set aside 2 grand a Year if you're going to do 12K a Year and if you don't use it all treat yourself to a weekend's driving holiday abroad with what's left. Niggly things will happen; the odd irritating rattle, maybe a few electrical things if you're unlucky, air con is not a model of German efficiency.

To answer all your questions properly yourself go drive one.

When you do, Graham is right you will save 270 quid on road tax (that's an oil and filter change) but, more importantly, regular cars (like TTs) will cost you thousands in depreciation. Last I looked there were only 5 or 6 Sags for sale in the UK and their prices are hardening. Make sure you put that into your sums and work it out over 2 or 3 Years.

I'm not making it any easier am I smile

I'd like to think i've got enough going on upstairs to not even try and take on a Sag, or any TVR for that matter!

The only thing that really plays on my mind is the lack of ABS. Whilst we can all drive sensibly etc, you can't always take other morons out of the equation. Is it nvery apararent, or have you all had TVRs for so long you're used to it!?

When was the last time you needed ABS?

I run a sag and have a v quick TT,
I just wish you could switch the TT ABS OFF,
I think the ABS is crap and v dangerous on multi suface roads (one wheel in gutter with leaves other on tarmac) and down hill the car might as well be on ice.
Just you try it and you will never want ABS again.

You have to treat the sag with respect; warm it up;tyres included then it wont bite back.

Needed? When Devon's answer to Stirling Moss seemed to be trying to set a new record on the A38 > Kingsbridge road, which is a single track road. Would i have stopped without it? Possible, but i was grateful that it was there.

I think there's only one way to move forward, better have a look and see what's around...

Thanks all.

Isn't 2k a year a bit low for 12 k miles per annum? In my last year of motoring at that distance in my t350 its cost me about 2.5k inc new rear tyres with no problems other than a cracked radiator (covered by warranty). Recommend more like 3k, plus a contingency IMO

I've spent a lot more but only through a combination of choice (I can't leave it alone) and getting caught out in the Warranty debacle after the events of December 2006. I'd be interested to know where you spent the money.

Warranty - I'd recommend you get a 'Platinum' level warranty - unlimited number of claims, £4000 per individual claim - about £1k - just an insurance policy, but it's a very high spec, high performance £50k car, so you'd be daft not to get one.

The 'manufacturers' warranty is all but worthless.

I jumped in with an 03-plate T350C in Feb....
It costs me a bit - 2 services, a set of tyres and a few niggles to sort out, but 12k miles and 7 months later glad i did...

Get test driving my son! cloud9

Got the TVR Gold (Wear and Tear) policy with Autoprotect - haven't had to use it yet but I sense I'm about to try......
