Any particular reason why over a T350 ?

Greater than the sum of its parts
But perhaps you would say the same about the T350

1. A T350 that will make say a minimum 370bhp and more if a 4 litre conversion is opted for,
2. A T350 that would I imagine handle as well as a standard Sag,
3. A T350 that is not aerodynamically challenged like a Sag,
4. A T350 that is built as well as a Sag,
5. A T350 that which is better styled (less max power) IMHO,
6. A car that is marginally less rare than a Sag (say around twice as many T350's as Sag's out there)
Compare the above points with the Sag:
1. Quoted power output was changed by the factory to 380bhp, but do they actually nmake this "straight out of the box" ?,
2. A car that possibly handles better than a T350 in standard form,
3. It is often said that Sags hit the aerodynamic equivalent of a brick wall at c145mph due to the rear spoiler,
4. A 2005 Sag won't be screwed together any better than a 2005 T350. In fact the opposite could be true here as the T350 had been in production for 2 years at the point the Sag was released,
5. Obviously a matter of opinion here, but there are elements of the Sag's design that are non-functional and daft even e.g the slats in the bonnet and rear spoiler hindering the aerodynamics,
6. Slightly more exclusive than the T350.
I'm not knocking the Sag - I can't as I've never owned or driven one, but if I was looking to spend up to £35k on a TVR, I'd go down the T350 route with mods, or even the Tam route with mods. I just can't believe a Sag is around £10k better a car than the T350 (or Tam) of the same age. For me this just reinforces my view that the Sag was over-priced when new - not compared to other marques, but definately compared to what TVR had already achieved with the T350 (and possibly the Tam).

Yeah but when you come to sell the Sag you wont lose all that money that you have spent on upgrades (as you never get it back) which can also make a car more difficult to sell / insure etc etc as well....
Again fair points, but not everyone has their eye on re-sale value and insurance costs when buying initially. If this were the case, then the after market upgrade suppliers wouldn't be as successful as they are. Even without spending the money on modifying / upgrading a T350, is the Sag worth nearly £10k more ?. Lets face it, you could buy a 380bhp Sag that is 30bhp down on power and find a standard T350 that makes the full 350bhp. On the road there would be little or no difference in performance. If every Sag was a genuine 400+bhp car then you could start to argue in favour for the difference in price. To be honest I don't know if T350's (and Tams) are just great value at the moemnt or if the Sag's are a little overpriced.

Speaking as someone who paid mid 20's to upgrade from a 1 year old T350c to a new Sag at the start of 2006, and despite all that's happened in between then and now, I'm still happy to have done the switch.
Reasons (IMHO) - the Sag is far more driveable on the road. Torquier (if that's a word) lower down the rev band, epitomised by the fact that you can smooth it away with only 1200 rev's whereas the 350 always wanted 2k if you didn't want it to pink or possibly stall. The ride is far superior. With potholes in the 350 I found you got a solid bang which had you checking the body for cracks, but the Sag in a relative sense cushions them whilst at the same time never leaving you with the feeling that you lose traction or experience roll.
Never tracked the 350 sadly, so don't have the direct comparison in that environment, but gave the Sag two outings this year which left me grinning big time.
With the price differential now much tighter I would definitely recommend at least getting a drive in both before you make up your mind. Don't find out later ! I took my 350 in for it's first service and test drove the Sag while I was waiting for a cab to the station and immediately knew I'd never be totally happy with the 350 afterwards. It took me another 9 months to actually come round to doing the deal but it was basically an inevitability.

I thought of T350 upgrades, but buying the car for 44 then spending 10 and selling after 2 years for 30 wasnt an option.
N
I was lucky enough to be able to choose between a T350 or Sag, I went for the T350 simply because I much prefered the looks. The Sag seems a bit overdone for my conservative tastes - mean as hell yes but a bit OTT(no offence to Sag owners)
I'm no where near good enough a driver to exploit the Sags well documented handling superiority so this was not a factor.
For the price of a good used Sag I got a brand new T350, depreciation be damned! I'm very happy with my choice.
