Jumped in the car last night to go and pick the missus up and the heater wasn't working. The heater lights come on but no air was coming out, then I got an error code 24 (i think) Heater Flap. When I got home i checked the fuse and that seemed okay.

I remember the heater flap being discussed on here before but can;t find where.

Is it expensive to fix?

Is it a dealer job or something I can do myself?

Thanks for your help PH'ers.

There is a small box that controls your heater under your glove box. Put your head right into the passenger footwell, look up and you should see it. Check for a bad connocetion(it looked slightly melted on mine). If it is just a bad connection then you are lucky, but if it needs a new controler box/connection then its not a major thing. Good luck!

Hoolio, had two of these heater flap stepper motor failures in 05/06 on the Tam, the motor was £35 and 1 hours labour £40 plus vat at the indies. Try the fan on cold for airflow as they default to cold when ignition is turned off and then get stuck in that position when motor fails, tricky job to do yourself as there are about 10 wires to crimp/connect plus a big fibreglass panel to reseal by heater matrix on bulkhead passenger side.

I've just had mine fixed by the dealer. Can you believe the control thingy inside (technical) is made of plastic and when hot hey presto it stops working!
Its a common problem which can be sorted temporarily by 'freeing' it up but mine was replaced as this could not be done.
I understand if it was the ecu that controls it then thats expensive.
