Hi

Just had my car serviced at Dulfords. Richard there appears very helpful. I had him inspect the top end because I was concerned about the noise of the engine until it was up to 50 degrees.

The bill was £1600 for the 12000 mile service, inspection and an MOT. A bit steep, but I guess people have to make a living.

I thought when I picked the car up, the noise would be better, however its just the same. A kind of metallic, dry bearing kind of sound until the engine is really warm. Richard says they all sound like that. Something to do with the scavenge pump or something.

Can anybody confirm this? It is the kind of noise that makes me grit my teeth!

Most Speed 6 engines i've heard (including our T350) sound like a bag of spanners when they first start up. As you say, the sound mellows out once they're up to temperature. We were concerned at first but the mechanics at the garage reassured us they were all like that!

Sewing machine? Yeah, a little at first. Not enough to worry me, though obviously I can't hear yours to compare.

I really wouldn't worry about it too much. I spent two years worrying about my old Tuscan always questioning new noises and then when I finally thought it was running at its sweetest making no noises at all…guess what…bang new engine

All I regret is that I’d spent more time worrying less and enjoying more. If it’s going to go it’s going to go just enjoy the good times biggrin

Now I only stop if something falls off or goes up in smoke otherwise it's happy days for me driving
