Tamora Ride Height
Discussion
I'm considering changing from a 98 4.0l Chimaera to a Tamora. One concern I have is the ride height, as the back lane to my garage is quite rutted in places and even with the chim, its a bit of a pain getting the car into the garage. Can any one confirm if the Tamora ride heght is significantly lower than the chim.
Earlier Tams are lower than the last. I've got a Sept 03 Tam and have had it set up with the same geometry as the last cars. It raised the cars slightly (the main reason I did it) and improves the handling a bit (at least that's what I was told), seemed pretty good before too!
Ground clearance has been fine, but as per the previous poster I had to watch the nose on ramps, less so now. I updated the geo as my garage is at the bottom of a steep ramp.
Earlier set up is lower than Chim, but its only really the front end I had to watch.

Hi,
I've got a Chim and a Tam and agree with what the other folks have said - the Tam's a teeny bit lower but the front overhang is the main issue. With the Tam I can only get into my sloping drive without graunching the front underside if approach from one particular direction - whereas with the Chim it's no problem at all from either direction - it makes my neighbour laugh when I have to roar up the road and turn round! Also use a local car park regularly - it has a downhill ramp into it & no matter how slowly I go the Tam always grounds slightly. I've wondered about seeing if I can get the clearance increased a little but I doubt it'll make much difference.
All best,
Neville

Thanks for the info Guys. I've recently been canvassing the neighboughs about resurfacing the back lane, but got a pretty poor response. Although most of the houses have garages, not many seem interested in using them for their Chelsea tractors.
I think might have to hold off on the Tamora idea for a while and see if I can get the back lane sorted out myself.
Other options are to upgrade the Chim for a later model 450, a Griff or possibly an Adrenaline motorsports Murtaya!

dad just had a hard standing made in a muddy field by dumping a load of fine hardcore/gravel on top of the grass. (not very tecnical i know, but the caravan that sits on it only moves about 6 times a year)
enough for a 200-300 yard 'road' cost about £200 quid, it seems very sturdy so not sure if there is cement mixed wuth it.
so i'm sure filling a few holes wouldn't cost too much
