I have been thinking about getting a Sagaris for a while now...ever since I got rid of my Chimaera 500.

Have now found one that I like, but it has done nearly 18k miles, is this a problem?

It has full TVRSH and have been told (by the dealer) it was well looked after.

What sort of price should I be paying for a 2005 Sagaris with 18k miles on the clock.

What should I look out for when test driving the car.

The dealer is supplying a 12 month wear & tear warranty.

Any help on whether I should or shouldnt would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Blue Lightning

I would rather have one that had been used - then you don't feel bad about driving it, etc. Low thirties would be fair for a dealer supplied car with warranty.

Hi,

Its hard to know what is a good price, the prices have certainly gone up in the last few months. This might be because of the winter (lack of movement on sales, so storage costs go up for dealers) and maybe due to the 'spare parts' supply chain has been confirmed.

Personally I`m looking at this sort of value (very approximate - assuming 1 owner 'not tracked' car smile )

4,000 miles - £42,000
10,000 miles - £38,000
15,000 miles - £35,000
20,000 miles - £33,000

I`m looking for one around 6k miles so I expect to pay around £40k for it, but only once the winter is on the way out (Easter time)

If you take it out for a test drive you can forget all the above - it will disappear along with any common sense or reason behind the manic grin on your face as you drive off into the sunset.
Drive, be bitten, smitten, buy it and get on with your very changed life!!!!!

Actually you dont have to drive one. Same thing happened with Candy for me as the first time I set eyes on Daisy.

Saw them and just handed over my money without even turning the key.

Thats what happened when I got my Chimaera....biggrin

Thanks for all the comments so far guys.

I have a test drive arranged tomorrow, so it will be a 400 mile round trip. I already know as soon as I drive it I will want it.bounce

The car is priced at mid to high 30's so I am starting to think that this may be a little high considering the mileage.

What sort I problems should I expect from an 18k miles Sagaris?

Thanks for all the help Blue Lightning

History is the most important thing.

I've had mine from new and apart from a few niggles sorted out under warrenty, the only non-service problem I've had in 2.5 years is the N/S door not opening. Now done almost 11K miles - basically as reliable as virtually any other modern car IMHO.

Dont be put off by a car that has been tracked. Owners tend to be more fastidious with oil, filters, service, set up, geometry etc. Better than one thats been sat still for years. I am reliably informed that there is a nice one at MADS.

The Sagaris is essentially designed to be used on track and I agree that the majority of track day goers are more conciensous about their cars - certainly the case with the people I have met on trackdays, the cars are absolutely immacculate, carefully warmed up and driven fast but not abusively. Someone who has a Sagaris to pose up and down the high street giving full welly when cold is an owner to worry about!!!

On the original question, I would say a correct 05 car with 18k should be mid-thirties from a dealer, early thirties privately. My car has 17k on the clock and is running beautifully. I am 'expecting' a new clutch to be required in the near future based on what you hear from other owners but so far no problems (touch wood wink ). The plus for the clutch going is that I may as well get the diff changed to a 3.7? when its in the garage, seeing as they will have it up on the ramp anyhow smile

My Sagaris recently sold for a whisker under £46,000....

So they are still demanding strong money. (For the right spec)
