who's had a rebuild at Straight 8 then decided to have a Supercharger fitted after the event, which meant new rods and pistons.

Er, someone with plenty of money?

Someone I'm jealous of (for the supercharger, not the money)

Someone I want to tell us more so I can see how this works ... I really want more power evil

I will email you a picture soon of the original speed six crankshaft against a steel billet Trevor, you will wonder how you get the power you have already got.

The speed six engine is a little gem because there is a lot of room for tweaking. The original design by TVR is fabulous.

Its not until you start to strip one that you realise most of the so called issues with the speed 6 are total nonsense and scare mongering by (TVR Specialists)

The main issue was parts and nuts behind the wheel.

My Sagaris at the moment is at STR8-6 (Jason Clegg) having a 'Total Rebuild'. The build is based around the Supercharger installation. However, there is tad more to it than new rods & pistons...

Yeah, eventually i would love to go for the 650 bhp option but at the moment just a reliable engine including a big jump in power is what the first part of the conversion is all about.
To take it to the next level will hopefully be this time next year, depending how much our 'twins' cost us from January...
Plus to take the engine to that kind of power serious modifacations around the engine & throughout the car will be required although the engine will be over engineered ready as of this conversion for the 'jump to lightspeed' when possible or required.
I must admit the antispation for the car to be complete is like waiting for my first Scalextric as of Xmas 1975... (The Mini rally edition with high speed banking)

Shaun, How are Straight8 going to get 480lb/ft of torque from a speed six that is naturally aspirated and give you reliability.

Can you tell me what they are putting in it to achieve that.

Mark, it isn't going to be naturally aspirated as it is Supercharged now & nearing completion, there is a summary of the conversion in my profile. Additionally if i can get rid of at least 3 stone off me 'belly' you'll be looking at 500lb/ft minimum i reckon...
Hows your 'Bus' by the way is it still poorly?
Shaun.

Sorry Shaun I have miss understood your profile. I thought standard trim meant natural aspirated. I am looking forward to seeing your Sagaris once its finished.

My bus is moving in the right direction now.. See you next year.

No probs Mark & sounds like good news with your car too.
My funding this year limits the car to an estimated 480 bhp on lowish setting on the Charger as anymore will require different cooling, gearbox, clutch plus a other host of things etc & crucially there is not a lot of space in the Sagaris engine bay for cooling which will be 'developed' over next year. The car is more than at its limits with that type of power with gearbox & clutch etc so the car will evolve during 08.
I must admit to have it fully blown to over 600 bhp would be quite a handfull but thats where i'm going with it regardless... However it may hinder long term reliability with that amount of grunt, we'll see!
Idealy i want to enter the car in Vmax, Fighting Torque events etc & compete plus trying to keep up with you on track...
Over the last six moths i have tentatively looked at Ultima GTR's but i cannot be without a TVR!!
See you next year.

I have the utmost respect for you bow in what you are aiming for but I reckon for you to have 600bhp you will need the budget of Renault Motor Sport to keep it on the tarmac.

And that's after Straight 8 has finished with you laugh

Fair play to you. thumbup The bar go's for ever upward.

Laughing... To take the car to the next level over 600 bhp would require severe funding to say the least or them big loans the Bank of England seem to be giving away lately should help!!!
I think around 480 bhp will be enough even Jason who's built it has said with that kind of power it will be seriously quick & should be enough & to be honest he has proper looked after me with the conversion in every way. Bless him.
I'm just kiddin' myself soon as i get the funding together next year i'm going for the 'Big Lad 650', Evel Knievel suit & a trio of Parachutes plus upping me intake to 10 pies instead of 5 to stop it from taking off! we only live once plus then i will rename the car TVR Millenium Falcon as the Spaceship in Star Wars, that didn't do just Lightspeed it did point five past... & didn't Han Solo say it was also "the fastest hunk of junk in the Galaxy" (just kiddin')
Yeah, roll on next year it should be fun & finally i dont like dwelling anymore on the failed TVR company although still saddens, i'm just going forward like a 'Rocket' & at the same time give the Supercar brigade something to worry about, in me little greenish plazzy pig...

Ewan,

Yes that is my Sagaris the Reflex Charcoal one.
All the work is being done by STR8-SIX who share the premises With Henley Heritage & all the work will be completed there to a completion which will be the end of January.

Surely all these numbers are just that numbers bandied about until run in mapped and independently run on a RR that many of us use. 480 sounds do-able with lots of internal mods, mind the 650 sound like just pulling number out of the air!

I might put on my profile 750 next year when stroked and Twin Turbo's (but at least that is a know quantity (they can easily do this) and not just bragging!!).

And I could add 130bhp just over the weekend with a Blower kit (honest).

Firstly, the numbers are not just 'bandied' about as the 650 from a Speed Six was achieved by the developement team involved with the shelved original Supercharged Typhon project which Jason Clegg was heavily involved with & who is sorting my conversion. However, the first phase of the conversion will be around 480 which will merely give a substantial power increase & reliability as well as the charger will be on a lowish setting as previously stated which will limit the power for now until next year. There will be further developement within the car as there obviously isnt the same amount of room in the engine bay as the Typhon for cooling etc. If that can be addressed & i have the funding required for all further modifications throughout the car, that will be the road i'm going down as the R & D with the engine was completed by the TVR developement team & since has been enhanced by Jason. Once the 480 conversion is complete run in & mapped etc all graphs etc will be put on my profile to confirm. plus if you ever met or spoke to Jason he certainly is not the bragging type & is very genuine individual.

Secondly, you dont know me & i'm not the bragging type either as all infomation i have collated is fact which can be simply confirmed by Jason Clegg who again was integral in the Typhon development. The summary i have put on my profile is what can be achieved regarding the infamous Speed Six engine & to a lot of people will find & have found very interesting off line especially Speed Six owners plus not many people know the history of what was achieved with the Supercharged Typhon project a few years back as seems you dont, which was very interesting to say the least, additionally i'm lucky that i have the right person to emulate that project without the huge cost of the R & D which for me fortunately TVR carried out.

Finally, i dont post often but when i do it is based on true fact with sometimes with a bit of humour. However, i do not post Dilettante opinions or views. Anyway In the meantime good luck with your Turbo engine & i hope it goes well & i have no doubt it will perform like you say it will.

Oh i wonder if you could help me? where would i be able to source a similar Supercharger off the Intercepter in the Mad Max flim then i maybe could take the engine to a 1000 perhaps just by simply pressing a button on the dash! although the Charger might stick out a bit!! (Just kiddin'...)

Happy Christmas & a Merry New Year...

Shaun
