110 db on T350c , No tracck day for me!

I drove to Brands today to get a db check on my T350C with a TVR Power sports exhaust. I was asked to hold revs at apprtox: 5000rpm and she recorded a whoping 110db.
Max db on most circuits is 98db-101db with very few tracks allowing 105db. He then asked me to rev to 3500rpm and she recorded 105db, just o.k to run on track.
Just curious how many other Tiv owners get on track without bolting on these mad huge ugly silencers?
The good news is that nearly 90% of people in the pits with all types of super cars were more intrested in the Tiv. What a buz!
They will have to wait for my Tiv to whoop their ass! Look forward to replies on db subject.

Noise does not equal power!
I think you will find that with a standard exhuast your Torque will be better. Just change the diff to a decent ratio 3:73 or 3:91 and you will be legal and quick.
Just ask Daftlad!

When was the last time you laughed at a flue terminal from a Saxo - noise and slow!
Attention to detail and engineering principles is the key. You will be faster with good geometry and proper tyres so forget the noise. 99db is still loud

Some people make the choice to re fit the original system if they intend they do tracks or fit the silencers. They either re-fit the standard rear silencer system before the trackday, not too hard to do, or use muffler thingys.
However, you'll find that most regular track addicts don't have 'sports' exhausts in the first place for the reasons already quoted. Some sneak by the sound tests - less revs than asked for etc.

Well you are probably limited to noisy trackdays only or getting a set of noise reducers for the pipes.
You could try this: Don't rev it to 5000 - rev it to 3500 instead when they are doing the noise test - as they are not looking at your rev counter how will they know? I did this with my Sag at Bedford and just got on. I think the limit there was 101db and I just passed with my standard system. However on the Sag they can only measure one exhaust as they go out on opposite sides

You lie and tell the track marshal that you have just had a new engine and you cant run it past 4000rpm or you get an active tail silencer which slots inside your tail pipe which will only open fully once you get above 4500rpm which will knock off about 10 decibels below that.

Sympathetic marshalls work well.I have a Sports Exhaust and wheeled up at Goodwood for my traditional end of year run.They asked me what it reved to and I claimed 5.5k and the didn't bat an eyelid bless them,also looked away as I revved the engine. I just squeeked through as I was right on the limit and they then briefed me on where the test points were on the track so I could back off in good time.
Turned out the man with the meter was a hard core TVR fan.

i failed at coft , rev to 5k she said , i got too 2.5k before she said stop you failed .... oh bugger.
as for car set up ? if the exhuast i have fitted cost me 50bhp id still keep it , pop pop brrrrrrrrrm !

Croft has a anti track mob like Castle Combe. Whats funny about the Croft mob is that they are based next to the airfield as for car set up ? if the exhuast i have fitted cost me 50bhp id still keep it , pop pop brrrrrrrrrm !

Last year at Croft I parked the trailer at the Chequers Inn and some very nice local started giving me a lecture on how annoying and anti social the track is completely forgetting the revenue the track brings to the local area, When I mentioned it at the bar to the landlord he explained that she has only lived there 5 years. Each to there own I guess.All marshals are on our side, If you think or know you are on the limit or over take something to get the noise down, so long as you've tried they are mainly forgiving. There are a lot of aftermarket silencer out there without your car looking like a wheelbarrow. I have no silencers or cats whatsoever and I can get the db below 105 which is good enough on most tracks.

Not a lecture just an observation as to why you would wish to sneak past the noise test. The standard exhaust is torquey and acceptable to track day officials and a piece of p*** to swap. Better still come to our trackdays at Kirkistown where nobody gives a monkeys about the noise test as my old T350 proudly displayed with TVR Power cans on.Whilst I value your opinion that a well set up car and a good driver does equall better lap times, I think your missing the point. hi mr lock pick. presume it was your green t350 there on sunday. didnt see any one near the car when i 'kept' walking by coz did want a chat. was down there for my first track day. novice of course in my nissan 350z. good day. a tamora turned up later on getting over taken by all the porsches was very annoying. oh well i'll save them for when i get a t350

I recently changed from a wedge to a Tamora so also turned up at Brands to get tested yesterday, unfortunately they had packed it all away and wanted to charge me so I am going back next week. 110db in interesting though, think mine may be loud, it has a JP system fitted. Not sure about the helpful testers though! At brands and Oulton Park - tested in the open, 98db no problems, 105 days both times, Goodwood and Castle Combe both test beside buildings however and I tested 104db there so got sent home from Goodwood, had cans for Castle Combe though but they only just got me in.
Will be ordering some cans for the Tam.

Spoke to ACT about track cans but I have a JP exhaust with rolled edges so the standard cans cannot fit over the ends. I do not have the original exhaust.
I have previously seen on tamoras some ends that fit inside the exit pipes, can anyone advise where to get these from?
