Evening all. Not wishing to tempt fate but at £65 looks good value. However, its got that "too good to be true" feel about it. in order to for it to apply its has a) breakdown as a result/mechanical electrical faiulre, and B)as a result be prevented from continuing it sjourney and c)have been attended by the AA and d)need the repair to contnue/resume/commence said journey.
Has anyone got this on their motor?

Thanks

C

Have you read the AA T&C's???? They are shocking! and exclude nearly all of the parts that would need replacing.

Custard,
Did they pay for the rebuild completely?
I have heard good things about the warranty. Problem with my current Autoprotect (nearly expired) is that I have to use a 'Dealer', whic is at least 2 hours away. I'd rather use my local specialist (APM).
Would you recommend the AA warranty for this?

Hi all,

Just tagging along on this topic. I have just picked up my Tamora from Racing Green this Saturday. I'm new to TVR and wanted to protect myself against the unthinkable...

Racing Green have sold me a 'Lumley Warranty'. This has cost £500 and covers me for 12 months wear and tear with a claim limit of £2000. I am waiting to recieve the paper work for this warranty to read up on it further, but do any of you have any idea if this is good or bad??? It's just that from what I've now been reading, it seems quite exspensive...

the AA warrentee is ~£60 and covers you for 3 claims of upto £500 per year. in my case it was two independant specialists that claimed Dulfords and a Porsch eek specialist.

for engine they helped with £500, for the alternator they paid the bill (~£400 mostly labour)

I paid a huge £1500 for a 12 month warrenty through Castle TVR.

I picked the car up with under 9k on the clock, full history and a 12k service (with tappets)just completed the day before. That was friday night, on monday night a mere 36hours into ownership of my first TVR I heard a very disturbing banging... yes you guessed it, number 6 big end had gone!! (surely some type of record, and with under 9k)

Full rebuild was paided for by Castle (I was told it would have cost me around 7k at TVR power?)as the warrenty Co said that Castle had not only sold warrenty on a faulty car but that no damage had occoured when the car came back to them as I had pulled over so quickly.

Its all going well so far... although I have an intermitant miss fire at about 65000 revs with a murmer just before it happens... I've been told it could well be a dirty fuel filter but does anyone else have any ideas and if a large miss fire does damage?

Be careful piscola90, your big ends might go again at 65000 rpm (and poss some other bits as well) wink

Yes I have and to be honest it looks similar to any warrant I've seen....

The AA warranty is absolutely ridiculous vis a vis terms and conditions. Have to have broken down and be recovered by the AA. So for example if the engine goes into limp home mode, and they refuse to recover you, no claim can be made.

The AA warranty is great. For £65 it is a bargain. If you breakdown and they cant fix at the road side then they will pay out for it. I got my moneys worth when I had the cover. They covered starters, clutch etc......
They were much better than the full warranty I had from a dealer when my first Cerbs engine needed a rebuild.

I have the AA warranty, for £65 you cannot really go wrong to be honest. It covers most parts that are likely to break.

AA cover is for 5 claims of £500 each making cover of £2,500 for £67, just made a claim and it found it very good.

not if you have AA home start. You get home, then call them out, and you are covered. I have claimed 3 times for 475, and they have paid each time...
