Jacking the Sag

Decided the time has come to acquaint myself with what lies beneath. Have an annoying minute discharge which appears intermittently on the driveway when I leave the car standing and so want to jack it up and take a look.

Now, what's the best way to get under there ? What kind of jacks do you guys use ? The trolley won't go under unless I presumably jack one side first and the manual (ha) does not even mention where to jack from, there being no such device with the car

Graham, I'm sure your car's been in the air many a time. Do you use axle stands ? Any advice on the process much appreciated.

That's exactly what I was after. Thanks as ever for the compreshenive guidance. Not sure it'll be looking anything like the underside of yours by the time I get to Chatsworth, but here's hoping.

Of course, you could try the farmers approach and drive the wheel onto a 30mm deep plank of wood so the trolley jack fits under the sill

Yep on bumpy ones and all four tyres bottom in the arches

From TVRCC forum (and not a patch on Graham's description) I tend to use trolley jack on corner of outriggers but I see you recommend the diagonal strap that spans the 2 tubular sections - looks quite flimsy?

The image you have is for the cerbera i think?
so there no fillet shown at the rear jack point

Hexham had a nice sag up on the 2 post lift like i describe, a week or so ago.

It looked nice and sturdy.

Four 18" pieces of decking are just the job, followed by four 18"x 8"x 4" blocks then the axle stands then you can get her up in the air a bit at a time (Fnah, Fnah). The one trolley jack method!
