Carbon air box

ACT Carbon Air Box with trumpets fitted today complete with remap and the difference is something else.
Drove one with standard diff two weeks ago, but with the 3:73 and the new found torque and power curve the driveability is superb absolutely over the moon!
They should have left the factory like this, but with the air intakes from under the headlights.

I agree about the 3.73 diff - transforms the car. Now you have got me thinking about the carbon air box too - what additional benefit does it give and how much?

The power is definately smoother with a definate feeling of more grunt from lower down the rev range right through to the top end. Once I have it on a rolling road I will post the differences.

Have same now but not getting car back for 2 wks yet. Sounds like you went for the longer air intake trumpets too.

You've had spark-plug cover chrome plated?

Where does your carbon airbox take air from? Is it straight down through the car or has it been inducted from the front? I only ask as the air intake pipe under my std airbox is a poor fit around the flange on the airbox bottom. That can't be right/helpful can it?

Its a design flaw. The standard air box connector pipe goes down to the flange on the chassis about 4" off the ground. The standard air box has two holes drilled in the underside to prevent vacuum formation. i.e. if you drive through a small puddle you will fill the engine full of water! Ive done the same with the carbon box. The benefit is the seal around the filter- solid so you are only drawing filtered air into the engine. This also means that the induction side of the filter is sealed and the trumpets will work. Ideally I would have changed the airbox to draw the air from the front of the car. One for the boys at ACT me thinks!
