Folding the roof back advice???

Probably a really silly question, but I'm new so hopefully I'll get away with it.

I've not had my Tamora all that long and two days ago was the first time I folded the roof all the way back (A very momentous occassion). When I bought the car, the roof had a new window put in. I was really careful in trying to fold the roof back so the nice new screen didn't get all folded up and creased, but I found this impossible. The car has been in my garage for a couple of days now with the roof down and I put it back up again yeaterday and found that the nice new screen was all bent up with two noticable points where the support bars are

My question is this. Is this just what happens when you fold the roof back and I'm to expect there to be fold marks and dents from doing this or am I 'twit' and I've done it all wrong???

that rear screen lasted about 5 and a half years so it is ineveitable that it will crease, but when you fold the perspex back when it is cold, just try and get the main fold to be even all the way across when lowering. That should give it a chance. And don't force it down. In the summer it will just fall back. The rear screen needed replacing as I was forever putting the roof down especially in the cold when I went to work.Glad your enjoying her still.

I use a rolled up bath towl. This stops the creasing when the hood is fully down, because the window bit wraps around the towl.

It works for me anyway. Hope this helps.

My rear screen's over six years old and in very good condition. I may be stating the obvious but I would recommend never leaving it folded down for any long periods of time.

Thanks for the advice guys (Dicky as always; Thank you and yes still loving it). Are you sure that's not a sports exhaust because it really does pop and bang. I set off a load of car alarms the other day when I drove past them???

I quess that all the fold marks will go when the heat's on it in the summer time. I can't wait! I'm getting fed up with this cold wet stuff!!!

the exhaust was taken apart by the boys at racing green when they were investigating their own sports exhaust. Unfotunately they could not modify the standard TVR exhaust in the usual way so they got Jaguar aparently to have a go. They welded mine back together and she was never the same again. That's why when Chris sold it to you I told him to say it was "a unique note"

Well well well... I never knew that. Chris didn't mention anything about it. What did they do it then? I guess it didn't pop and bang before they fiddled with it then?
I was reading up about sports exhausts and from what people have said, the standards don't pop or bang that's why I thought I'd mention it to you coz this one does! I like!!!

I suppose I don't need a sports exhaust then!!!

you definately do not need to waste any money on the exhaust, have no idea what they did, except that they took it all apart and found the baffles inside were all twisted together, so unlike the older baffles which are streight and they can pull a few out to get a louder exhaust, mine oppps sorry yours was not able to have this done, so it was welded up and hey presto she was given her unique note!!

Used to use a piece of pipe lagging on my MG (just lay along the centre of the plastic screen before you lowered it), stopped the creasing quite well, not sure if its possible on a tam, but an idea anyway...

I tried the roll it down with a towel trick and after loosing two beach towels I was banned by the mrs for being so careless!

For me i heat my garage (i am not joking) which means its mallable when I put it down!
