Car2Cover warranties - Has anyone used them?
Discussion
I spotted the following company's details online, and I must confess that I am tempted to give them a try.
Car2Cover policy booklet
My current warranty has recently expired, so I'm within the 90 day period that still allows me to purchase one of these, but I wondered if anyone had experience of this company?
Feel free to respond via forum or directly via e-mail if your comments are likely to be removed by sensitive administrators!
Thanks

hi neilboyd, ive got a 3 year cover with them and ive only heard of good news from people on this site do a search ! but as yet no need to make a claim !
i think its only a mechanical breakdown cover not wear and tear what ever that means ?
for the price you cant go wrong
gearbox goes bang your covered s6 engine goes bang your covered !
but i think if your speed 6 goes in for a service and the garage says you need a rebuild ! is this wear and tear or mechanical breakdown !
im not quite sure what this would mean ? perhaps they would pay for some of the cost ! because if you were to leave it, more damage could be caused costing them a bigger payout, perhaps your local garage could assist if it were to happen
anyone ever made a claim and has some feedback

I have a warranty with them and they have paid up for new rad, which they paid for everything including the new coolant which apparently is unusual. New starter motor, and also replacement oil temp sender.
They would not pay the full labour cost for the work on the rad but they paid %95 of it. They have a set labour rate depending on location, in the south they have said they will pay up to £80 per hour.
They have provide a good service so far, no complaints.

How much is this warranty?
I'm on the Autoprotect Warranty at the moment. But since I've only done 2,000 miles this year and have not claimed yet I may go for a 'lower grade' warranty in June when I renew (plus my car will be 4 years old, only 2 more year of wear & tear cover anyway).

I'm interested that you have to purchase cover
a) within 180 days of vehicle purchase or ;
b) within 90 days of expiry of an existing warranty.
I've had my car too long for a) but I do have a TVR 3 year warranty (yes I know they won't honour it, but I still have it) due to expire in 9 months.
Do you think I could claim b) applies when the (worthless) TVR cover expires in 9 months?

Hmmm, that 180 days thing is new. I have cover with these guys, and have had for about a year now. Never actually needed to make a claim yet, but for £500 (for 2 years!!) it's good to know it's' there. Think I paid an extra £50 to cover the Cats as well.
When I took out my cover I just emailed them to check everything was covered - I would just ask them about how it works with the TVR warranty. Cause I guess they could argue that expired with the company.
When I took my cover out back in April 2007, they were talking about stopping cover on TVRs! Due to "the expected high number to claims"!! I guess that didn't happen then?!

I spoke to Car2Cover today, and took the opportunity to ask about this. They confirmed that the TVR waaranty (worthless as it is) qualifies for the 90 day expiry rule.a) within 180 days of vehicle purchase or ;

...... And their sales team are incredibly helpful.
I've taken the plunge with one of their warranties.
I'll be sure to let everyone know how I get on if I'm unfortunate enough to have to make a claim.
(Assuming I can suppress the "sensible" side of me that knows I should trade the TVR for an s5......)
Neil
I should add, for the record, that I have no ties with the company whatsoever. If the warranty turns out to be a pile of poo I'll say so.
