I want to buy a Tamora - Advice please

Hello all. I recently sold a Chim 4.0l V8. I had agreat time with it when it was running but it did cause me a few problems..I always seemed to be in the garage getting niggles repaired.

I love the look of the Tamora's but don't know much about them. Can anybody help me answer the following: -

Are they likely to be as problematic as the Chims?

Do they need an engine rebuild?

Any more useful info gratefully received....

I went from a Chim to a Tamora over 2 years ago. In my experience, neither were problematic, couple of small issues, but nothing too much to worry about, Chim let me down, so I couldn't drive it twice in 7 years, the Tam once so far.

Does it need a re-build? Well have a scroll through the threads on here and make up your own mind. Personally, done 10k miles and all is well, but I am creating a slush fund!

Bought mine from new, so can't comment on buying 2nd hand, but so far not got anything in particular to suggest you look out for. My advice would be to get the newest you can, but take your time to make sure you get a colour/interior that you are happy with. There are not many around, so it might take a while.

You will miss the V8 rumble, I did, but a sports exhaust helps with that. Handling wise, far better in the Tam IMO.

They say early engines need rebuilding but I have done 25K on a51 plate with no probs. Iguess the best advice is done over-strch yourself when buying it then you can still afford to fix it. it will cost more than a chim to maintain. I went from a griff 500 and love the tam but for different rasons. My sports exhaust screams pops and bangs - LOVE IT !!!
