This thing is beautiful, surely TVR should now be using a design studio.

How about this with the Tamora running gear? I want one..

Another prototype shown in Detroit, the Infiniti FX45
SUV, has also got some TVR Tuscan influences.
If TVR would build a 5-seater 4x4 Tuscan, this is probably what it could look like (apart from the front chrome grille). You can see it on the Infiniti website
(www.infiniti.com) in the future models section.
Very similar is the design of the windows, and the
round power bulge in the bonnet.
Add a Tuscan grille and the triple headlights and you see what I mean.

Koen.

Please don't insult the Tamora; that's not really what it needs for the time being

I am not with you, the car at the bottom of this thread is stunning....surely TVR should be doing something similar.

The car depicted is a concept - as such it is a design exercise, not necessarily a workable car. Howe many concepts get through to production without significant changes to meet crash regs etc? - very few. the Tamora is a fine car, and very good value - how much would this car cost as a production model? Dreams are fine, but I want my reality, Benno - which should be late Feb!!!

Also note the raised rear cover behind the driver's seat. This indicates to me it is only open top, not too useful in the UK.

Good design is no more expensive than average or bad design, take a look at the original picture, that is what TVR should be making??

I'm surprised at you benno. I for one am quite happy with the Tamora thankyou. Are you implying you don't like the Tamora without actually driving it?? I intensely dislike the Boxster and found it uninspiring, bland and boring when I drove it. At least go and drive the car before you slag it off. While I appreciate the styling of the back of the Tamora isn't to everyones taste, EVERY magazine has given rave reviews for it's handling and most of them have deemed it a much more rewarding car than the Boxster to drive. Isn't this something to rejoice rather snipe at??

The car you posted above looks good, but it's just a concept and may well handle like a bag of shite. The Tamora is reality and I can't wait to get mine.

Possibly, but Nubbin's point is that this is a concept not a road-going car. The picture is digitally manipulated (The car was not photographed outdoors) and contains classic 'concept only' clues - tiny shut lines that would add considerable cost. Panel forming that would only be realistically possible in composite materials (not a trend favoured by mass production facilities). Delicate looking door handles that may need beefing up pre-production. Likely non-compliant wing mirrors, no roof mounting or anchoring points visible on the windscreen surround, non-compliant numberplate mounting and no-visible heat sheilding to protect paint & bodywork from exhaust...the list goes on and culminates in those massive alloys with rubberbands on them - Autechnique in Salisbury used to make dull Mazdas look quite attractive by banging on a set of 18 inch TSW wheels and lowering them and inch.
The trick to manufacturing a drop dead gorgeous looking car is to carefully manage the necessary compromises that occur between design and real world assembly. TVR have a pretty good track record in this regard, although I'll concede that recent models are more of an acquired taste than the Griff and Chimp before them...

It agree you are right...the performance, noise and handling of the Tamora are unbeaten.

But with the looks below it would be a worldbeater.

I hope they won't because I don't like fat-looking cars...

the car looks the bolloxs no doubt about it, but so did the concept boxster, look what that ended up looking like. I don't think the company that brought us the Griff, Chimera, Cerbera and Tuscan needs a design studio, that would be the end of individualism for TVR. I do think they designed the Tamora then tried to make it aerodynamic which might explain it's quirky looks. Benno likes his porker, Flash likes his Tamora and I like my Griff...each to his own I guess

At least with TVR you get to drive a car that looks like a concept car anyway!! They'll never build the Solstice for $20,000. If they can, kiss goodbye to every small sports car manufacturer in the UK and the rest of the world. Hmmm, maybe that's the big boys' idea?....

Don't forget the conversion factor - $20,000 in the states means £35,000 over here......

Isn't it the other way round $20,000 is about £13000, isn't it?

Have you ever looked at the cost of things in the states then looked at what they cost over here?

You used to be able to use the conversion $ = £
ie Microsoft X-Box $299 in the states, £299 over here.
....but for cars you have to increase it further.
