I've Caught the T350 Bug

Hello ladies and gents.

I am just going through the fall out of a very interesting Saturday morning at Racing Green TVR. It looks like a T350 could be my next car. I have to have that sound in my life.

I have been looking through this and the Speed Six forum. Would I be fair in saying that apart from the usual advice you see when buying performance cars (condition, inspections etc...), the message seems to be to buy as new a one as possible? That the Speed Six got more reliable due to incremental improvents?

Anyway, Racing Green have a beautiful Orange coupe in, on an 03 plate. Does anybody know anything about this car? I have to admit I like the car, but the fact that it is an early car with only 13k miles, and from what I can gather no engine work does worry me. Am I over reacting?

Sorry about all the questions but I am completely new to TVR, coming as I do from a certain German car that bears a strong genetic link to the humble beetle.

From my experience looking at T350's about a year ago I found that the 2005 cars were better put together. Simple things really like the glove box shutting correctly and the trim detail. I also read that the earlier sp6 engines were more likely to need a rebuild. Whether this is totally true or not I can not comment!

I'm sure that there are some very good pre-2005 cars out there and as long as the garage are offering a comprehensive warranty to cover eventualities such as a rebuild then you should be OK. A lot of it is down to how the car has been treated. I'd prefer a 20k mile TVR owned by a considerate enthusiast over a 10k mile car owned by the opposite.

Ive got an 03 with 21k and had (touch wood!) no probs. Don't believe everything you hear about sp6's.

I fear I may have just tempted fate...
