I'm looking to buy a T350 and I have found these two at a couple of dealers. Has anybody come across either of these two cars? Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.

PS: I know they are at opposite ends of the country, but I just happen to be visiting Harrogate next week.

Hi Steve,

Sorry I don't know anything about the two T350's, but the advice I got when looking for mine, was to get a later car from 2004 on, as a lot of the Speed 6 issues had been resolved by then. I am sure someone will post if this is not the case.

Good luck with the search.

It is worth looking at the older cars as they may well have had any problems sorted.

Technically they would need the engines 'sorted' to 2004+ spec's - not a rebuild by TVR in 2002..

Here we go again... Basically, TVR constantly developed all their models. So a 2002 Tuscan is more developed than a 2000 Tuscan, a 1999 Chimaera has a few tweaks compared to a 1995 model. Same applies to the T cars.

Engine-wise, a 2003/2004 car will not exactly be made of chocolate. I did notice that the 2006 top end on my spring 2004 engine (rebuild after head gasket failure) is much quieter when cold and smoother. Doesn't mean its going to last any longer though...

Buy on history, condition and how the previous owners treated the car. Get a warranty.

Exactly, so its worth looking at older ones that have had this done?

My advise would be to buy from a dealer nearer to you, cause if any little niggles do happen, you don't want to be making a 500 mile round trip to get it fixed!

I have personal experience of this - feel free to PM me if you want a fuller explanation!

Wise words. That is certainly something that has been on my mind. Trouble is that one "up north" is a beauty yum.

You know some girls are trouble, but that doesn't stop you considering it...

2 very nice cars you have chosen but would you not consider a private and save yourself 5k. Your destiny is in your hands then if something did but probably not go wrong. You may even be able to chip another 500 to a 1000 of that with some good talk and waving some cash around.

And it is not my car I just picked it as an example.

Remember a dealer has at least 5 to 6 k in the car they are selling so your peace of mind is not free.

Car drives A1 and sounds awsome. Silver wheels pictured have been replaced by 18" Spiders.
Car comes with private plate L7OUD.
Priced to sell at £19,500.
New Cerbera forces very reluctant sale

This probably won't help at all, but when I was searching I wanted to hear any opinion, so here's mine...
I love the orange colour and hate the amethyst and 13K miles is better than 26K. But, 2005 is probably safer than 2003. If buying from a dealer I'd rather buy closer to home. However, I'd not buy from a dealer, prefering to get it cheaper privately (a dealer will unlikely give you a long warranty anyway). Also, I'd prefer to have in mind exactly what I want before narrowing the choice. These two cars are different in all respects except price.

If you're looking at spending that much, I reckon there's plenty of choice for you in the Classifieds, and the best bit is you can look through the seller's forum posts to see if there's anything you should be concerned about.

The latter is my old car and from whence my PH handle was derived. It may have been fixed in the three years since I had it but once a Friday afternoon car always a Friday afternoon car?

Please - I don't want to start thinking about it again - I've just managed to start getting a good night's sleepwink

If you're really interested, check out my old posts - it was my 4th TVR and should've been the best - needless to say it resulted in me leaving the marque! I believe HHC have sold this car once already and have even tried to get rid through ebay recently. At the end of the day I've just said 'buyer beware' - they may have it all sorted but I think its already been through 3 owners, each after relatively short periods of ownership - it's your choice though - you pays your money and all that......

I wouldn't buy another TVR from Harrogate (let alone one with a chequered past)
