Aircon pannel remains dark. Need advice pls!

Hello,

the LEDs (which indicate the knob position) on the aicon pannel (2004-T350) remain black since yesterday.
I checked all fuses but everything looks fine.

Both knobs are still working ( I can controle airflow and temp) and it seems
that the compressor is working all the time. I tried to disconnect it whith pushing the upper knob but the A/C stays on.

Sorry for my bad english but I really need your advice.

Hi Frank,

did you already check inside the dash? The controls are connected to the ECU using a ribbon cable.



The upper part of the connector might have gotten loose, i.e. some of the wires do not have contact any more. The dash is fastened with two allen bolts - one on each side, inside an opening on the bottom of the dash.

Hello again,

I checked the connector and the switches but without success.
I even removed the battery connection last night to "reset" the car
but also no help.

BUT: I recognized that in the moment i turn the ignition in the off postion
the aircon pannel is illuminated for half a second. I crosschecked it with
different aircon knob settings and the pannel showed (but only during shutting down the car) the correct indication.

Any idea ? Maybe a relais ?

Sounds like a fault with whatever ECU controls those LED's

I don`t know how the air-flow system works on these cars, I would assume some sort of ECU turns the knobs positional information into a voltage for the fan - along with altering the hot/cold flap and air con switch.

Why not email the picture of the switch to Bell Hill breakers yard, http://www.bellhillgarage.com/

and try a replacement?
