New Experience - wet seatbelt.

Drivers seatbelt wet along it's length apart from the first 12" or so after the car had been parked overnight in lightish rain.

Any suggestions as to likely source of the leak and possible solutions? I'm intrigued as to why it has anly just appeared.

Hi Lee,
Not had this in the Tamora, but did in my Chim. Would guess its coming in at the roof hinge, and dripping down to the seat belt. Was that carpet up the side, below the roof hinge wet? Perhaps the car was facing the wind that side, and if was anything like it was here last night, the rain must have been coming in sideways. That might be why you have not experienced it before.

Hi Ian,

It wasn't last night - the weather the night in question wasn't too bad so I was surprised. The carpet didn't appear wet.

When you say the hinge, do you mean the seal between the two sections of roof by the hinge or actually through the hinge fixings?

I mean the bit where the rear folding roof hinges to the body, just behind the door. I know I can sometimes see daylight through that bit so I am sure its not totaly watertight.

Never noticed any gap there before - but then it's never leaked there before.

I'll check it out.

we used to get a hole where the targa fitted with the bodywork by the door. Definately knows it leaks there as we had such a hole on the way to le mans once that my wife's whloe arm got covered and we neededa hanky to plug it up.
