Help! Window jamming...

The drivers side window of my Tam is jamming. It will only move up into the closed position about 3 inches.
I've striped off the door panel and have loked at the mechanism but can see nothing obviously wrong; the cable, what I can see and feel, seems fine. The motor seems strong. It's almost as if there is something physically jamming the pane of glass/mechanism from going past a certain point. But I can't see what!!
Anyone out there had this problem and sorted it?
All help gratefully received as the car is useless (was hoping to drive into London - but parked up with an open window...I think not!), and for such a daft reason.

Is the motor not struggling at all. My passanger window has had intermittent problem. Sometimes after cleaning the car, the window would not close properly. My friendly TVR dealer said it just needed some lubrication on the window. They rubbed silicon along the edges and it is fine now. Not sure if it is the same but thought I would share anyway

Seems strange if it sounds like the motor isn't struggling. The most likely place I would think it would foul is at the front if somehow the window had shifted or pitched forward and now stops on that rubber bit at the top of the door sill.Not sure if this will work but if you unbolt the two bolts that hold the glass to the electronical runner can the glass just be manually lifted up? If so when you press the up button does the bit with the bolts in go up to meet the glass? If so it would seem all is working but the motor is out of oomph.
Before undoing the window bolts I would mark with some sort of removeable marker where these sit on the window or it may take considerable tinkering to get them back how they were.
This is a specualtive at work answer as opposed to standing next to it with a thinking cap on...
The button depresses fine, and the window starts to rise s normal. It then just bangs to a halt.
I did get it to raise all the way by holding on the top as it was closing and pulling up. There was a single point of resistance, which once overcome meant the window rose normally.
With the panel off I've tried depressing the button and pushing up from the buttom of glass as it starts to close, but just managed to give myself a hernia!
I will try to lift the glass seperately from the metal frame, although it will have to wait a few days when I'm back home.
I dunno, managed to have one minor triumph getting the PAS working then this happens to remind me I really a not in charge!

For those interested, I sorted the problem.
It was a screw/bolt that had come loose and was jamming on the door itself. Couldn't see it, or the scarring on the door, due to the windon not closing.
It was at the botom of the back end of the window, by the guide rail, on the side between the glass and the door itself - so not visible from inside the car. It must have vibrated loose; couldn't get a spanner/pliers/driver on it at all, so just finger tightened. I guess it gets tightened before the whole unit gets fitted.
Anyway, if anybody else has a similar problem, that's one possible cause.
