Red Rose Conversion on a Tam anyone?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has had a red rose conversion done on their Tam - if so, how do you rate the improvement?

I have on my T350, it is hard to judge improvements without putting two cars side by side and having a race round a track, but i'd say it is noticable, Go for it, you only live once.

I have a 4.0L Red Rose Tamora, Nitron Shocks, ACT Carbon Fibre Air Tight Air Box, Alloy Radiator, JP Sports Exhaust, Tuscan S Disc Brakes on front, a 100% + improvement on an already special car, and I'm stone broke. But you only live once so enjoy it while you can is what I say.

I have an original factory 3.6 red rose that the guys who service it are convinced is an 4.0 "S" spec car because it's very torquey - it's definately a 3.6 though, which I would guess now makes 380+ bhp and will show a clean pair of heels to pretty much most other TVR's out there. So is a red rose worth it ? - you bet !.

What I meant was its nice to stretch the RR and S legs once in a while. There potential is limited on the roads.

I keep saying it but I must get some silencers and get on a few more trackdays, would love to see yours on the track

Snap I have a full factory Red Rose Tam it is great - compared to my first standard Tam it is very torquey & has nice progressively smooth power through all the rev range. yes I can tell the difference.I feel it was money well spent.

The 36k service showed zero adjustment on one exhaust valve; now at just under 42k and it's running below par (had trouble with a Monaro a while ago! Embarrasing). I could just have it serviced and wait until another valve goes, but the joy of driving won't be there.

So when RG decide to answer my bloody emails and calls I'll be getting them to start work on an engine for me. Need to drive a 4.0 Tuscan first to see if I'll go for an upgrade to that.

Glad you enjoyed Zolder; much jealousy here, but it would not have been good with the car running lumpy. Did you appreciate your improvements?

Improvements were fine but tickover is a bit lumpy. Put standard back box on for trackday but still got black flagged for excessive noise. Luckily the 2nd time was during my fastest lap run which was late in the day as banned after that!

Will need to have uprated engine to stay with you next year by the sound of it.

Lee, if you are upgrading/rebuilding your engine then upgrading from 3.6L to 4.0L is a no brainer. The performance difference is fantastic, and make sure you have the ACT Air Box fitted aswell. Just a thought, have you spoken to anyone who has had a 4.0L upgrade with RG. I looked into what RG had to offer and chose Dulfords (email me if you want to know my reasons).

I had my speed 6 upgraded from 3.6L to 4.0L at Dulfords. Richard has done a fantastic job and really does know his stuff. The 12000 mile service is coming up soon and the engine is running brilliant.

Also I recommend you have Nitron Shocks fitted as this improves the handling no end.

I've yet to see some rolling road figures for all these superbly upgraded 4.0L engines...

4.0L should be much more torquey - which is what wins races. HP is just pub talk.
