fans - help please

A common question i know but just been out for a drive, got home and only 1 fan was spinning. Are they both ment to kick together? am i been silly? Water temp seemed to go up to 96 which is high for my car usually gets to 93 96/97 when in traffic.

any ideas???

Sagaris Standard Settings- T350 & Tam usually the same
Offside fan should cut in first at about 91-92degC. nearside at about 96-98degC.
The dash display is from a different sensor so will vary a bit

Sounds about right, really. Worry if it gets to 100. You can easily check both fans actually work by swapping over the connectors. If one doesn't it is often the sensor under the airbox that is at fault - the connectors tend to corrode. Its a cheap and straighforward repair and there are previous threads on here to help

Hey....

In traffic my T350 seems to be constant at 96 to 100 (you can hear the fans click in at 99, strange as both fans come on at the same time, always x2 running and not nearside then offside.....

My car never burns oil and I can't remember the last time it needed anymore coolant/water so I assume this is all ok??

Since my car was sat for a while at the bodyshop getting resprayed it seems to have developed a problem, the first fan comes on at 86/88 roughly, then theres no sign of second fan upto 98 so i decided wired the second fan into the same cables as the first, problem fixed till its next in for a service.

Was your car in the oven? I need some minor paint and everyone says I'll have all sorts of electrical probs as a result. Is this just a myth?

Im really not sure to be honest, i'd guess thats a myth as bodyshop 'ovens'/spraybooths with heaters will NEVER get to the tempratures that your engine will (too hot to touch) after driving on a hot day.

Think my problem is with water ingress to the wires leading from the ecu to the fans, they dont seem anywhere near as flexible as they should, almost brittle so when i re-crimped the plugs had a look and the wire inside the plastic sheaths were black/green rather than silver.

HI JUST HAD CHIP UPGRADE ON MY SAG AT TVR POWER,BRINGS FANS IN EARLYER THAN BEFORE.SO COMES IN AROUND 88 ON THE FIRST FAN.WAS TOLD THAT ALL THE DASH TEMP READ OUTS ARE SOMETIMES HIGHER THAN THE LAP TOP READ OUT,SO MY DASH SAID ABOUT 92-94 BUT LAPTOP SAID 88.ALSO UPGRADE MADE CAR DRIVE SMOOTHER TOO.THANKS DOM.
