T350 decats

Fitted my decats tonight,straight forward job really.Car is sharper on the throttle and a lot louder will defently wake the street up now.

Yeh, certainly makes a lot of difference doesn't it. I would recommend a remap to get maximum benefit. I did.

Putting in my 2peneth here, if you're looking for de-cat pipes contact David Chant (NTEL on PH) as he makes an excellent set - I have them on my T350 and they sound / perform great.

How loud is it exactly? I have a set of de cats sitting in a box in my garage. I'm procrastinating about it though, already have JP exhaust and it's pretty loud as it stands. Anybody got this combination? Can you drive 5 mins without an embalism?

Got the decats from tvr car parts about £180 delivered.The exhaust note has deepend and rasps more and the bangs on overrun are lounder.My car also has the factory sports exhaust.

I am looking for a way to increase the pops and bangs on the over run as well as making the Tam sound a bit more TVRish, am still split between a JP exhaust and leaving the standard backbox and sticking decats in. What are the decats like on the motorway?

we found you lose pops and bangs on the overun when we had the tamora with the power pipes and decats.
but you do get louder bangs, flames, and a much deeper tone, 108db at 3500rpm
we had the normal cats bored out so you get a bit louder, deeper sound

That sounds like a good option, does that mean major probs come MOT time though? Also does it get a little hard on the ears at motorway speeds?

P.S. i need to sneak this past the OH, hence why i am looking for something that will only make a real difference when properly opened up.

De-catting will make the car noticeably louder with the same exhaust system. It did with my T350 when I had it de-catted and had the JP back box. I found the car made an awful droning noise which really irritated your ears at about 70mph. Above and below that speed it was fine but loud. I changed the JP for a straight-through custom system with big cherry bombs which is even louder at 4k+ revs, but below 4k is generally quieter and deeper in tone and gives the car a nice deep angry growl.

De-catting will also give you more peak torque and power, but I found the real gains were lower down in the rev range.

I'm guessing it feels alot more responsive then? when it comes to MOT time is it just a case of put the cats back in?

On a side note, i think i saw you T350 at Snetterton for the TVR racing S5TVR?

Mrs NTELs Tamora is fitted with my decat pipes and racing green super sport exhaust. Its one of the best sounding Tamoras around. Everybody who hears it says the same. Its got a really low pitched burble and pops and cracks like a machine gun. Cruising on the motorway is no problem at all but when the loud petal is pressed in anger, all hell breaks loose

It does feel more responsive but you need to have a re-map to get the best from it. My car passed its MOT without the cats in. You're right I was at Snetterton a while back and at Brands for the Tuscan challenge - hoping to make Silverstone this month as well.

Cheers John - I'll come and find you. The only question mark over whether I'll make it along or not is that I'm at my cousins wedding the night before - If I manage to behave myself and keep off the sauce I'll definately be along.
