Good news and bad news

Hi Guys good news and bad news,

After owning my T350 for a couple of wks, it started to play up at idle so i booked it in for a 6000 mile service

Ideling sorted, engine is 100 percent.

Bad news is i need a new clutch and master cylinder and starter motor.

It was becoming very hard to change gear but when warmed up seemed to be smoother i thought it a trait of TVR just like the older Ferraris.

No such luck, they are saying dont drive it until changed because it could let you down anytime, what are peoples views on that, i was hoping to use it at the wkend and go upto the motor show in london.

Should i use it, i have RAC cover

I have got them to order the parts but it will be 2-3wks before they are in.

Ahh yes, I am in the same situation excpet my clutch has already gone and Candy is sat at the garage, good old Multipart being on the ball as ever..!

It could be fine for another 1000 miles, it could fail tommorrow. I think that unless its leaking fluid, its probably ok for a while. My advice? unless the fluid is leaking, enjoy the motor show and go in style.

Note. Brake and clutch fluid are in a combined cylinder. If you get a brake fluid low level warning, its probably started leaking clutch fluid - its then time to stop using it.

Bit of an aside but I found the motorshow a bit of a disappointment in terms of both size and content. It seemes primarily to be the non-premium brand family car market, though Lotus are there and a few interesting concept cars.

I can appreciate that this is just my opinion but a few others have said the same thing.

Might be something to factor into the should I/shouldn't I equation if you are concerned about breaking something or spending some time on the back of a lorry.

My car has been hard to get into gear almost since I got it - about 4000 miles ago but its down to some worn fingers. However I suspect at the next service I will be asking my warranty company to sort these things...

Mine had been struggling to get in gear for a few weeks. It was easier when warmed up a bit, so sounds similar to your experience. I agreed the clutch replacement on a whim when I dropped the car off at Leven for a service, and having finally made that decision, it was a real relief to know that I'd no longer have to worry about it letting me down! Picked up the following day a loved the silky-smooth journey home.

What did you get replaced? Just the clutch or the master/slave cylinder as well?

Does anyone know if they replace the clutch this includes those 'clutch fingers' that seem to break? I`m not 'up' on the internals of a clutch

If the clucth is replaced completely (friction and pressure plates) then the fingers will also have been changed. The fingers are in the centre part fo the pressure plate. I suspect your warranty will not cover tired fingers, but broken ones should not be a problem for a claim.

I had the same problem with mine!! I decided to try the clever trevor uprated clutch and slave cylinder....the car felt completley different and much smoother!!

I don't know how many miles your car has done but my first clutch lasted just 10K....The clever trevor item can't have a shorter life than that!! Plus the fingers have been uprated.

i have just had the news that mine clutch cylinder is leeking while in at service with racing green.

Just seeing if the warranty will pay for it ,fingers crossed.

I have had difficulty with the clutch when cold since i got it about two months ago.
when its warm it fine.
