been screeching a little and slight dragging...think its time for a change

Based in Hadley Wood / Barnet should I call Level or the TVR Centre or just go to quickfit?

I changed my pads on the sagaris at the weekend for Ferrodo DS2500. The easiest brake pads I have ever changed. I would say it took less than half an hour to do both sides.

Do it yourself it really is easy and the pads I put on have made a huge difference.

Guidance? Notes? Pictures? Any of these to be found anywhere?

I guess it would be the same for a Tamora?

Lee,

If you are up grading to 4.0L then you should get Tuscan S discs fitted to the front of your Tam. Need to stop those extra horses. RG should advise you to do this ?

I've also got Ferrodo DS2500 pads fitted on the front. Certainly good at brakingyikes, as I found out the other day.

I agree with Blackiepaul. Diy learn something new and save money. I recently changed discs and pads all round on a T350. Both are easy - the rears need a wind back tool for the caliper - while the fronts are the simplest design I've ever touched and certainly nothing there to scare the ameteur.

I upgraded the front to Tuscan S and have a spare set of caliper spacers, as supplied by TVRPower, if anyone needs them. As supplied these are too wide (16mm), but any local engineering shop will machine them down. I found 9mm was spot on.

Hi Ian,

Actually I've been advised by someone to NOT upgrade the brakes, just the pads. You're not actualy going any faster, just getting there quicker. Still have the same amount of momentum to stop.

Also, same person said that the balance of the standard brakes is excellent so changing fronts will upset this. The guy's been tracking TVRs for 25 years and has no axes to grind so I'm saving my money for a 3.9 dif ASAP!

Hello,

I have never had any guidance on changing pads for a car just what my dad showed me years and years ago. every type of car has differenttypes of brakes but all in all they are the same.

The ones on the say had two simple pins, push the two pins through using something as thin as the pins, I used a allen key and tapped them through with a hammer! Pulled the old pads out and knocked the new ones back in.

On some brakes I have had to undo with two bolts or allen bolts and remove the caliper first before replacing the pads.

Peaple worry about brakes, one major rule to follow if you are not good at rembering how things go back together take a picture first. The biggest rule though is - make sure you use all the parts you took off, one little thing left can make a big difference.

I only upgraded as the S discs were £25 cheaper each than standard - its a mad world. Can't say I've noticed any unbalance on the road, nor better braking power, but they do look nice!
