Temperature A Little High.

Hello,

I know this is a common subject but it's got me a little worried, could do with some advice please.

The temp in my T350 always remains at around 100o in and about town. It's a little strange as both fans seem to kick in about 100o which doesn't seem to be the same as others which I hear come in at low 90o and then the other around the 100o marker.

First question - does anyone else (esp during recent hot weather) notice high temps, is 100o in and about town common?

Second question - I was thinking about changing over both temp sensors (ie one for sginal to ECU/FAN) and the other for display - where are both located?

Even though the temps are high, the car runs great, sounds great and trouble free (touch wood). I was sat in grid lock traffic on Saturday (Edinburgh) for over 45mins, no problems at all, car never needs topped up with coolant and oil temp sits in the low to mid 90s when going nowhere. When on a long drive the temp goes down to low 80s etc.

Fans should kick in at 92 and 94. Worth getting the sensors /thermostats or whatever checked?

Any idea where they are located? I am fairly sure one is under the airbox, not sure on the other.

temp sensor for dash is under the airbox between cylinders 2&3
temp sensor that operates the fans is between cylinders 4&5

I supect the dash ECU is showing an incorrect reading and you have no problem. Get it on a lap top and see what temp the fans are cutting in at vs temp on Dash display.

• i've only seen them with the engine out so no idea if they are hard to get to, but they look like the the oil temp sensor (brass with a wire coming out), which was easy to fit.

not sure what you do to stop getting an air bubble in the block tho.... as water will pour out when you remove the sensor.

My temps are a little high as well, but have confirmed that is it the dash miss reading. Checked on the laptop during last service and also with an Infer Red thermometer. Both the oil and the water temps are off by 10deg. (I have adjusted my warm up driving to suit now (<3000rpm until 70deg oil temp, full revs over 80deg) Anyone any ideas how to rest or adjust the temps on the dash??
