Fitting the cats back how much will i reduce the noise by?

Hi Guys

I have decided to keep the TVR Power Super Sports exhaust for now as i just love the popping i get on the over run.

However as the car has been decated i have ordered a pair at a cost of £700 to be fitted when i get back from holiday along with a new clutch master cylinder and starter motor, (apprx £3000 all in) OUCH!

How much quieter will the car be with the cats back on, anyone know? my guestimate is about 20% what do you think?

If it is still too noisy i will go the whole hog and put a standard exhaust on there.

I run decats with a standard system, and I can't say I noticed much more noise. That said, other people mentioned it when the cats were removed, and I'm deaf in one ear since a Metallica gig when I was 17.

So, yeah, maybe 20 per cent...

Stephen, I have a standard exhaust in my garage if you need it. Are they going to change the slave cylinder aswell as the master. Andrew at David Hendry reccommended upgrading the slave cylinder when I had my clutch changed. This I did as it reduces the wear on the clutch.

I might take you up on the exhaust, thank you very much, i am going to see what difference the cats make first as i love the burble on the over run, not sure about the slave cylinder as he didnt mention it, i will give him a ring and see what he says, my car is a late 2004 so it might be OK.

Did you say 3000 GBP for the work? 700 for cats, 800 for a new clutch and cylinder, 500 to fit both is 2000. You're being had.

Actually it is closer to around £2500 which will include a new starter motor and probably VAT which i suppose your fig of around 2000 is right if you havnt included the above.

Sorry to be cheeky, but I'm in the market for a used sports exhaust if you decide to get rid and put some money towards that big bill??? I've been haunting the Ebay halls for a while now, but still nothing. I'm not rich enough to buy a new one I'm afraid.

My JP Sports Exhaust could be up for grabs if Stephen wants my spare standard exhaust, as I do like his TVR Power sports exhaust and think it might be better than the JP.
