Rear hatch latch catch T350

Apols for the title...

Anyway - the rear hatch on my T350 doesn't seem to close fully and rattles somewhat on bumpy roads. It looks like it needs to drop another couple of mm in order to compress the seal a little better - I guess the best way to do this would be to drop the latch down slightly.

Mine's an early model with the tireweld cubbyhole in the middle of the rear interior panel - can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this myself? If it involves too much dismantling I guess I might put up with it and leave it until the next service!

You can't move the latch without some serious modification to the supporting fibreglass. Easiest way is to simply adjust the pin on the boot lid. It's secured on ours using a screw and locking washer. Simply loosen the screw and move it up a bit until the boot sits snugly then re-tighten.

Happy to help further as I'm currently changing the boot lock actuator in our T350 and can help with photos etc.!

As T350Al said 'Simply loosen the screw and move it up a bit'
Adjusted mine at the weekend as it was very difficult to close, took a bit of trial and error before I got it just right with no rattles.

i just used to wrap it in black tape when i had that problem, rattle solved

Hi,
I adjusted mine by moving the pin but unless really tight which made it difficult to shut it still rattled. Finally I put a piece of petrol hose over the pin and it can be adjusted to close properly and doesn't rattle.

Thanks for all the replies chaps.

I adjusted the latch pin last night to more-or-less it's maximum 'up' adjustment. Boot requires gentle pressure over the latch to ensure that it catches now but the rattle appears to have gone.

If it comes back or it becomes more of a problem to close then I'll investigate wrapping the pin in tape / hose / heat-shrink etc.
