Another addition to the TVR Graveyard in the Sky

Had her out for a drive last Thursday night, got home and tucked her up in the garage.

Got a call at midnight from Police to inform me of an incident.

Went out to find her in the middle of the road, somewhat melted. Fire brigade had dragged her out of garage to put flames out before fuel tank went up.

Looks like an engine fire, but she is a total write-off:

OMG, thats terrible. I suspect you`ll never know what the fault was!

Blimy thats a worry as i have a 350 to, i dont surpose you left any conbustables under the car ?, my Griff once set the grass alight on a trip to leman when parked,

I would guess either an oil or petrol leak lighting on the hot exhaust. A salutary reminder to check the condition of your fuel hoses before it's too late.

Would it have been an electrical fault? I assume the fuses would have popped first?

Arrr mate, that's terrible. My thoughts are with you at this tragic time, but I know any words will not fill the void that has been left in smoke...

I have an integral garage to my house and this news is very worrying for obvious reasons...

You have my sympathy.

You also have me worried as I have had to disable the fire alarm sensor next to my garage. Twice in the last month I have set the fire alarm off when backing my T350 out.

Hopefully the insurance sorts things out and you can start looking for a new TVR!

I have got over the worst now, its not like there is much I can do...!
Will definitely have another TVR, just not sure I will find a T350 as good second time round. May have to save up and get a Sag or a Tuscan2.

Fingers crossed the insurance will sort it all out - it would be nice to know what caused it too!

Your's is the second one I've heard of this year, that for some apparent reason caught fire. The other was a Tuscan MK2.

Are there anymore out there that have met the same fate?

Have heard of a Cerbera that had an engine fire whilst on the move on a dual-carriageway.

The chap mentioned that the only thing that saved him and his passenger was knowing where the emergency door release mechanism was as the regular release system failed.

Worth checking that you know where they are and that they work correctly!

There are 2 rear alloys that look OK. I will have to see what the insurance want for her as a few others parts may be useful for people.
