you already know the answer, how bad is the damage? You could take a file to it to remove the burs and paint it back up but it will never look as good as it did before. I did the same, got a painted alloy wheel scuff and touch up repair kit from "Get Smart" on E-Bay for about a tenner. All you get is a few bits of wet and dry, a filler primer and three different silver paints in pots and a pot of laquer. But it did work well. I took the wheel off the car and laid it flat on the bench so as to be able to work on it. I carefully sanded the burrs down with 120 grade wet and dry using a small flat wooden sanding block making sure that only the burrs were sanded; be very careful and take your time. Then use the filler primer to fill in the hollows, one thin coat at a time, leaving to dry between coats. Only paint in the hollows to fill them with the primer filler. It is amazing how much the filler primer will build up to fill the hollows. Then when fully dry, sand (wet with a fine grade, 600 or 1000) to a perfect finish. Then paint with the silver paint, I found that the "course silver" matched best. I put five or six coats on very thinly. Finally a couple of coats of laquer. You cannot tell that there was ever a burr visually and can only find the repair by passing your finger around the rim but you would not notice it if you did not know it was there. I spent the weekend on it, mainly waiting for paint layers to dry but also re-painting with the primer filler and re-sanding back when I was not 100% happy with the finish. It was defintely worth it since it was a virtually new wheel which I scuffed. I cannot say how long the repair will last since I only did it a month ago; fingers crossed it lasts and I don't scuff it again!
Dam annoying isn't it. Curbed mine a couple of months ago, driven from Essex to Scotland and back, curbed it outside my house.... grrrrr.
I made some enquries at the time, and as mentioned really. A repair will never give you a complete finish, but based on the last post (which is interesting, and for a tenner and some effort, could be worth a crack) maybe give you a pretty good comprimise, and then perhaps get a proper refurb if the repairs starts looking rubbish or you are selling.
Full refurb is about £70 to £90 a pop.

Sympathies matey. I've done it before and it hurts..If you can get to RG, they will be able to do replacement refurb for about £90. BTW when I eventually get my engine in, we'll have to meet at one of the Brizzle or Dorset meets and compare toys!

My advice would be to have your own wheel refurbished. It should cost no more than 50 GBP for someone to do it at your home or work address and it will be like new.
Trouble with off the shelf refurbs is that you dont know how damaged they were before the refurb. You do with your own.

And RG are pretty reliable; they don't accept wheels for refurb without ensuring that they are in a good state first.
Of course, there is never any certainty in having wheels repaired. Even if they are your own, I guess.
