New Tyres - T350

Time to replace my fronts and would appreciate feedback on best choice for normal road use (if there is such a thing in a TVR!) Currently the fronts are T1S's and the rears T2R's but they are still fine. I'm thinking of replacing the fronts with either T2R's or F1 Eagles. Which do you consider to be best and what about the combination of T2R's on rear and F1 Eagles on front?

Go for either T1 R or Eagle F1s, both good tyres. My personal preferance would be the Eagles. Don't mix the tyres, it will only give problems....

No experience with the Toyo's, but very impressed with the GY F1, just put the second set on the front after 29,000 miles, excellent in the wet for such a light car and grippy in the dry. Only thing is the old GSD3's are being phased out for Asymetrics and like rocking horse poo to get hold of in 235/40/18's anyway.

if you hsve t1-r on the rear stick with the same on the front. like said mixed will only give you problems. check the thread out in tuscan forum

Personally I hated the Toyos when I had them on my Chimaera. I note that the current Tuscan thread raises similar issues - namely that they are terrible whilst being worn in and still like jelly once they are. I think this may be that the tyre wall is too soft although at a much lower profile than on the Chimaera it may be better.

I rate the F1s on my Tamora which are mixed in that the old type is at the back whilst the newer asymmetric is on the front. Am looking forward to putting the asymmetric on the back. Don't look at good though but this is not the primary purpose of tyres!

i'm at the limit all round, so need to by 4 new boots.

I had to hunt for a couple of weeks to find what I was told were the last GSD3's instead of mixing like this. How do you find this set up? I was told that Asymetrics on the front would be ok but not on the back with GSD3 on the front. Fortunately I've got loads of tread left on the back before needing new.

Thanks for all your comments. Just to let you know the outcome I have decided to go for the T1R's since I already have them on the back with loads of tread left and I can't justify the expense of 4 Eagles (I really fancied trying the Eagles but there you go) The comments about the performance of the Toyos when new will be really helpful and will hopefully prevent me from getting too disappointed in the first few hundred miles!
