HELP ME find a dash ecu PLEASE

Ok, Iam at my wits here guys, 6 weeks on the road to aquiring a dasboard ecu for my 54plate t350c, I have been let down so many times.............If anyone has one, knows of one, knows of a damaged t350c with one in, or anything that will help me......please please please email me

they seam to be the only people who advertise them.

Have you tried Douglas Valley Breakers? They specialise in written off sports cars and they always have a good stock of TVRs. I've not seen a T350 on their books for a few months, but their stock changes regularly so it would be worth giving them a call if you haven't already.

The vehicle is september 04 when it was registered.

From what I`ve read over the years the ECU on the Sagaris/T350/Tamora all seem to be interchangable - makes sense in terms of 're-using' the parts.

I beleive some Tamora's come up as T350's on power-up, etc.

I'm confident that the T350/Tamora/Sagaris ECUs are interchangable, having had a Tamora one whilst ours went for repair last year. As stated in the post above, the only difference being that, on startup, it shows the wrong model. Our window ECUs are also marked up as Sagaris in true TVR style(permanent marker on the casing!)

Yes, I have a Tamora one in my T350 and mine has been repaired twice. Works fine (apart from niggles) and only difference I can see is on starting engine it says TAMORA! the guys at Automedon in Blackpool advised me that ECUs are becoming impossible to get hold of as there are just none about. I think people are waiting 6 weeks for them if they can get them at all!

TVR Power? They fix them. May know of spares, try Automedon - Dave may know...

Salvage - you'd be lucky i'd say.. I pray every day that mine does not go completely or i'll have your predicament.

My Sagaris ECU got damp and started playing up and is now with Racing Green who have a bloke who fixes them. Not sure whether he is going to be successful or not but probably worth giving them a try.

I`ve been trying to get hold of a dash pod so that I can reverse engineer the systems and possibly come up with an alternative dash pod (with some new and interesting features)

So far I can`t get anyone to part with either a broken or damaged pod so that I can trace the electronics and see about developing an alternative..

There is no intelligence in the dash pod itself. The dash ecu holds all the processing stuff.

As dash ecus are like hens teeth may be there is a small market for some enterprising person to make an alternative or copy and produce the existing. There is nothing on the existing unit which can't be copied.
I'm sure there is someone out there who has access to everything required to produce the existing ecu, perhaps they don't want to.

If your plan is to develop an alternative you can't expect people to give you stuff for nothing. Dash pods are available at reasonable prices if you want one.

If your plan is to develop an alternative you can't expect people to give you stuff for nothing. Dash pods are available at reasonable prices if you want one.

I have offered to pay for old dash pods (with even broken LCD's or ECU's) but most of my enquires go to a dead end.

A dash pod itself is not of huge interest, I need to pin traces from the ECU and to figure out how communications are done (i.e. CAN bus)

I may be using the term 'dash pod' incorrectly, I need the dash pod and the electronics behind it (with/without ECU/LCD)

They repaired my Sagaris dash ECU when it went wrong and I think they employ ex TVR electronics people.

I know what you mean.
The actual dash pod units with speedo/rev counter, lcd display and all electronics are available quite cheaply. Keifh has a working Tamora unit which suffers from missing lines on the lcd and I don't think he wants much for it. The dash ecu is a different kettle of fish altogether but if you've a car with one in already I'd just dismantle that (carefully!).

For the changes I want to do I just need the code for the pic devices but those in my dash ecu are protected and the cost of having them read would buy me some nice toys.

So if I understand correctly the ecu can be read, at a cost, but if a few people are interested the we split the cost? yes? If so

I'd be very suprised if you can overcome the internal micro protection and gain access to the code. Short of shaving the top of the device and scanning it which will cost. In the old days there were tricks you could do, but i think these have been overcome by the silicon manufacturers.

(If theres no protection, then you just read the contents with a programmer - not expensive.)

And if you did gain access to the code, you'd be left with the machine code which you could disassemble into a meanigless muddle, but as for adding new code - not something id want to do, more like a complete re-write.

Best to get the pin outs into the module and develop the HW/SW yourself from scratch.
