Wheel nut & tyre fitting info - help please

Just bought my first TVR Tamora, beautiful beast and goes like a sh*t hot rocket. Apart from a small boot leak and a dodgy alarm siren (thanks to Karl Baker for fixing it) I am loving every minute of it.

Having read the forums for a while now there are lots of knowledgeable people out there who are passionate about TVR.

I have a couple of questions I hope somebody can help with


1. I want to replace the crappy old wheel nuts on my 18" spiders with stainless ones. Anybody have a spare set they want to sell or ideas on where I can get a set from? I have tried shiny nuts who told me they have no stock and are not making any more for the later model TVR’s. Am I correct that the size is M12 x 1.25' with a 60 deg taper?

2. Why did TVR never fit locking wheel nuts as standard? Am I better buying a set from a TVR garage or an aftermarket set? If aftermarket items are as good which would you suggest and what vehicle are they for?

3. Who do you recommend to change tyres in the Dunstable/Bedfordshire area? Having just watched the spanner monkeys at a well known tyre and exhaust firm do the tyres on my Jag with all the love and consideration of a serial killer I don’t fancy letting them have a go on my P&J

If it is any help BLAINS TYRES at Great Gaddesden near you are the best at tyre fitting, they still do them by hand and are very cheap, p.s they still close for lunch on a week day so book first, hope this helps.

Hi All managed to sort some wheel nuts, they are not 100% stainless but are stainless capped nuts. They also don't cost £100 a set. 16 cost me about £50 inc P&P so they work out about £4 each if you were to need another 4 being brave and not having locking nuts!

Got a sample nut when I was working out in the states last week to check fitment, then ordered a full set. Took about a week to arrive. They advertise on flea bay and have them by the 100's might do a deal if there was enough interest.

On a different note had my first 'taps fully open' experience tonight through second/third gear. TVR's should be issues with a health warning.... acceleration was just brutal almost wet myself... but I am still walking about with a stupid grin on my face 2 hours later!!
