Seat belt issues in T350, could be a hazard, any thoughts

Hi All

I have noticed on my T350t that the seat belt ejector(the part the seat belt clips into) is very awkward to release, it is set to close to the tunnel, if it was facing the other way or was a little longer on a flex cable or at least with some movement i could eject the the seat belt without breaking my finger.

I have spoken to David Hendrys and they say that there is no fix for this and is an issue with these cars, i think this could be a potential hazard if you need to get out of the car quickly, you may just struggle in a panik, now i have got the hang of it i can get out within a few seconds but when i first got the car it could take upto 30 seconds to release sometimes.

Is this just me or are there other people with the same concerns and more importantly is there a fix????

Can't help but you might want to keep a seat belt cutting tool within reach

I ain't had much of a problem myself i just press it and get out. My passenger's sometime get stuck in the passeger seat though. I find if you press and wiggle and sometimes push down slightly it sometimes helps but to be honest it does not do it that often.

Hi Stephen, I'm thinking of fitting a 4-way harness to both seats of my Tamora, and doing away with the original seat belts. This maybe a good option for you if you are not happy with your current seat belts.

I would think long and hard about fitting harenesses in a car without rear anti roll protection. Its not safe.

I used to make heavy work of the seatbelt release, until I realised that instead of pressing the button and pulling the belt at the same time, once the button is pressed the belt can be removed anytime after (i.e. it doesn't re-lock itself).

I dont press and pull at the same time, i just find it quite difficult to actually get my finger in to press the release button, and i dont have big fingers, not that should make any difference.

Has anyone tried taking the seat out and seeing how the seat belt release clip is fitted to the car, if it is just a bolt it might be easy to replace it for a longer version, just an inch would do it.

No it's a metal strap bolted to the side of the seat frame, and no extra length at end to re-drill bolt hole to lengthen it I'm afraid.

Agree it's a but tight but I got used to it fairly quickly.

Yes very important point. I'm considering rear anti roll protection aswell as the windscreen frame does'nt look convincing as anti roll protection.

Yep . When I was down at Dulfords the other week, Richard did mention one or two tweeks he had made to my 4.0L speed 6 for extra torque. It has it's first 12,000 mile service at the end of this month, so Richard is keen to get my Tam on the rolling road
