37 KG in the Sagaris

On thursday I am going on a 150 mile trip with a diff in my Sagaris. For any of you who have ever picked one up they are heavy - not as heavy as a person but the weight is not spread out like person in a seat.

I was thinking about putting some small planks in the boot to spread the weight. Would this be ok? or am i best removing the seat and putting it on planks in there?

I really do not want a diff sized whole in the car or a crack from it.

Any ideas?

Have it delivered by freight type peolpes and arrive with the car on Thursday. Should cost no more than 40 quid and will arrive next day?

I need to somehow try and save some money on this one if possible. Its a bit of a long story but I realy need to try and deliver this diff somehow. It is not the one I will be having fitted - that will be a different one that is already there!

I will not damage the car so if there is no other way then I will get it delivered.

Would it not cost around £40 to do a round trip of 150miles anyway? plus all the hassle of securing it etc..? Just a thought? Sometimes you can get it a little cheaper if you can find a van delivering from the the area its from to your area and give him £20 as a thank you bit of a forienger for a truck driver i guess? i did this with a airport bus? Just a thought...

Plastic storage crate then in the passenger footwell. Or stick a blanket on the passenger seat, sit said plastic crate on it and put the seatbelt round it. Personally I'd do the former. Yes it will do some damage to the front of the footwell if you crash the car. But by definition you'll also have damahge elsewhere, so don't crash the car.

Don't whatever you do allow any used diff oil onto your carpets. Absolutely stinks - usually of cats p1ss

Yes passenger footwell probably best bet .. you defo do NOT want that thing flying from behind you in an emergency stop situation .. i would have thought if you had it on a piece of wood and maybe wrapped a lod of old towels / blankets around it you would be ok .. just slide the seat as far forward as possible to wedge it as far into the end of the footwell as possible as an extra precaution. You're quite possibly the safest driver in town, but there's other people out there who arent and it would not be prety if your one crash this decade is with 37kg of diff on board

Agree with JooJoo on this, too many idiots on the road to risk something like that smacking me ont he back of the head.

Bad enough when I took a 5l V8 to power in the boot of Daisy, the weight is noticeable especially when cornering or braking.

Just take your time.
