T350c - Sensor readings not right
Discussion
Being having an on-going problem with the T350 for a few weeks, since it was out in a heavy down pour. Firstly the headlights were playing up, but this was traced back to the relay, so that seems it was just a coincidence.
I have also been having a problem with the dash readouts for the water temperature, oil temperature, oil pressure and battery charging level.
When I start out everything is fine, all readings get to their correct running tempertures, but on several occasions now the water temperature will go from 94-98ish upto 120 in an instant and at the same time the oil temperture increases and the oil pressure drops and at idle will only read 2-3 psi.
Once this happened just near my local garage, they checked the water temperature, was reading 120 on the dash but the garage got a reading of 87, so I am fairly sure it is a sensor problem.
I also find if I turn the engine off and restart it, the sensor reading have gone back to normal. It happened again this afternoon, but as soon as the engine was restarted they were back to normal.
When the car was out in the down pour, could water have got in some where?
Has anyone had a similar experience with their T350.
The garage checked and cleaned the multipin connectors on the engine side of the bulkhead, but they found no water in them.
So any ideas what this could be, or does anybody know someone who may be able to sort this out for me.
Thanks BL

If you've had it out in a heavy down pour, it may pay to check all your relays in the fuse board ( Drivers Side )- take each one out one at a time, remembering where you took it from and check the relay terminals for water - water maybe getting in around screen and going on the fuse board etc ?
Dry joints in the dash ecu , drivers foot well right side?
Air in coolant?
Check out Sagaris pages for a few other ideas

Hi, I have recently Had all the same symptoms on my T350C after the AA jump started it with a boost pack!
The car was behaving fine but all the dash readouts were all over the place like yours.
I took it through to TrackVRoad who tried a different dash ECU and it was fine so mine was sent off to Kath in Blackpool who rebuilt the dash ECU for me and now all is fine again.
I wonder if water has got in and fried the electronics? I would find a way of trying a different dash ECU certainly before you start replacing sensors etc...
Hope that helps you.
Its scary driving the car though when your getting readouts like that!

Steve, do you want to try swapping ECU's tomorrow or Sunday to see if that helps?
Jon, will have a look tomorrow and see how easy it is to get to the dash ECU. If its not to much of a problem that would be a great help, at least I would know one way or the other.Took the T350 out for an hour or so today and the readings all seemed fine, we will see if that changes tomorrow. had same issues as your reporting as well as the oil pressure reading zero, not a nice feeling when you're in the outside lane....
Went to see Carl Baker about getting a recode of the alarm and mentioned the problems I was having with dash readings. Carl dived straight down to the passenger footwell and checked the main earthing point (top right hand side, single m12 bolt through bulkhead, battery earth on one side, all cabin earth connections the other) and found it to be loose. After tightening, everything is magical again, even the alarm clock indoors now works......
All praise goes to Carl, but might be worth checking this before approaching that dreaded box of voodoo which hides in the driver well...
