A couple of days ago, got an Oil Pressure Sensor error on the dash, since then the pressure has been displaying as way over normal (anything from 50 to 80 at idle). So I am guessing it needs replacing/fixing.

I'm no oily rag, so assume this is 'take to the experts' situation, or is it fairly simple to replace? What sort of money are we talking?

Thanks.

To double check you could always plug it into your laptop? but after that i suggest taking it to an expert. at least then you know its right. plenty of people on here have faulty sensor's so i'm sure one will be along shortly to tell you a estimated price.

It really is a simple job on the Tam, it should take you 5 minutes max, it is located on the drivers side inner wing just in front of the air box, it has a simple push on connector, and a threaded inlet and out let braided hoses.
Try the connector first to be on the safe side, pull it off and clean up, you might be lucky?

Thanks for the replies guys.. Although the effort to replace seems to differ a fair bit.

Managed to locate it, doesnt look much like the one in the picture, from what I can see. And also, doesnt look that easy to access either, so not sure about 5 mins. I might have another look when I have some time.

Latest oil pressure sendor is alloy finish earlier ones were black.

Best photo I have showing it on bottom right.

Air box off best IMO for the sag, T350 tam is easier as a bit further forward

Mine looks to be roughly in the same spot as in Vs picture above. Its just that with the airbox in place, its not that easy to access. Is yours in the same spot? Maybe there is an easier way of accessing it?

Ian
My sender is nearer to the PAS pump than the airbox?
Just looked at your profile you have a later car than me, you sure its a 3.6 and not a 4ltr laugh

Thanks Barry, looks like I'm not going mad. Mine is an 05, so will be the same. Not sure I fancy taking the air box off! Trip to the experts me thinks.

Really? I have seen a couple of bolts that attach to the top of the engine, just assumed it must be more complicated than that. So is that all thats needed, what about the two clips on the side of the airbox?
Thanks.

Very helpful, thanks G. Been looking at getting the part delivered, however noted on one web site that the anotate the part with something like 'replacement to previous part, will need extra earth'. Which is interesting, I will perhaps take the air box off and have a good look and see if I already have the 'extra' earth on there, suppose thats the only way to confirm. That way I can at least clean things up and see if that fixes it before ordering the new part.

All help received so far has been very helpful. Thanks very much.

Your age of car should have 2 wires allready going to the sender mine did and is slightly older than yours.

Barry, your right, two wires. As I said in my OP, I'm no oily rag, but I now know why everything takes a while under that bonnet! I suppose I would be much quicker 2nd time around, but seemed a right pain in the but to get the air box out, nothing is straight forward, but its out and sender unit duly removed. So, will order a replacement and should be all sorted.

Thanks all.

ETA - Varley - impressed with the cleanliness under your bonnet etc, compared to mine anywat, you either never use it or have alot of time on your hands.

Thanks all.
Put the new sender into the aluminium block off the car, carefully tighten, best use loctite hydraulic sealer/thread locker 243 and not over tighten, as known to strip threads.

Too much time thumbup

All done. Not been for a test drive yet, but have started her up and pressure looks to be back to normal. Thanks all for your assistance.

ETA - Now been for a drive, and settling at about 19 to 20 PSI at idle when fully warmed up. That sound about right?
