Clattering noise when AC is turned on in a Tam

yea, anyone know why a cylindrical pully/cuplink thing, driven off a belt in the engine bay might rattle when the AC is turned on. The end plate of this pully even seems to spark in-frequently on protuding metal tags which look a bit like timing markers for timing the engine. In addition the end plate on this pully mecanisum (I think it might be a magnetic switch/pump for the AC) feels notchy when rotated in relation to the body of the cylindrialy pully as a whole.

Any clues?

Ek! I don't think it is the pully tension, if it is the bearing does that mean you replace the whole pully assembly?

OK was told it would be a replacement ac unit cir £400

However turns out it was just the power steering bracket rubbing!! doh!
