What battery for a Sagaris?

Evening all,

What's the best battery for a Sagaris, what Ah, do I need a reversed pole version and where best to buy from?

Started reading rave reports about Optima red tops, worth the extra money? Why (not)?

Possibly standard duty 036 round post with postive on right with posts closest to you.(sept 05 onwards?)

Shouldn't need anything special as Speed 6 requires little cranking torque

Hi Graham, thanks for the reply, can't find anything useful in a Google search for 036 round post battery so will haul mine out of the car at the weekend and post full details of what I find. I'm fairly sure an approx. 70Ah battery (w. round posts, +ve on front RHS) will do the trick but better to replace like with like. I want to keep the power up even though it's a weight disadvantage as my underground car park causes the tracker to drain the battery in no time (hence ruined battery this time around - it's been run flat one time too many). Cheers.

Incidentally, if anyone ends up with Sagaris immobiliser issues as a consequence of running the battery flat I have become a bit of an expert at re-setting them without disconnecting the battery itself. A most frustrating process until you know how. Let me know if help needed.

The battery factory fitted in my Sagaris (2005 / March) is a Yuasa type 069 (round post, -ve on right hand side if posts nearest to you as you look at the battery). Managed, by chance, to find an identical replacement ($82.25 incl VAT) form SC Motor Factors. They had a cheaper alternative but it didn't have the plastic lip (required to keep the battery in place) at the bottom right and left of the battery (when looking at it from the front - other 069 batteries had the lips front and rear but not on the side).

The Yuasa is 74Ah but retailer says this varies slightly by manufacturer so no big deal.

looking at Graham's post it looks like the poles switched sides on later models however mine looks like the cables could probably stretch to either side if necessary.

If not too late for safetys sake have +ve on right and -ve closest to chassis if you can

Nuts, now I'm confused! If I switch it around the posts will be toward the back. If I get another battery, are the plastic lips on the bottom important to stop the battery moving around?

Does this mean re-writing the positive? My positive won`t stretch that far across and just curious.

Graham's cause for concern here. Not sure my main +ve (4 in all!) will stretch that far either come to think of it so will probably stick with the new (+ve on left) battery and take extra precautions to prevent future short-circuiting with the heat shielding when putting it all back together.
