12000 miles per annum in a T350 or Tamora

Hi peeps,

Is it possible to use these cars everyday all year round? Would a 2005 T350c or Tamora be reliable?

...oh and is a Tamora a convertible T350 or is there more to it?

You could do it, they are pretty reliable. But it would be bloody expensive- two services a year, a new clutch every 20k miles, and quite probably engine work too!

The differences between the Tam and the T350 are pretty much all cosmetic; one is a convertible ugly duckling; the other a lovely coupe.

I use mine quite regular. (T350T) It just needs a good service by a good garage so they can tell you whats on its way out so u can save. It might not be very cheap but think of the smile you'll have starting it up in the morning! You do have to get it serviced quite regular but a 12k service then a cheaper 6k one... maybe the odd part here and there? depends how well u look after it really?

Two services a year is a PITA but I s'ppose if the cars worth it then thats fine. I guess I'll try one.

Do they wear well?

My T350 is my only car, and as such is used for the daily commute, weekend jaunts and occasional holidays. I probably do just over 10,000 a year. It gets two services a year whatever the mileage, and anything that causes concern is addressed immediately. It's not cheap, but then it's not a boring shopping trolley, so I smile a lot (even on the way to work). When expensive repairs are needed it's a pain and a worry, but the worry about the speed-six engine etc before I bought the car was oddly greater than when I actually got one.

I spent many years doing 30,000 miles p.a. in my Chimaeras, five or six services a year was a tad pricey, but worth it!

Strangely thats my attitude now I've gotten used to the car.

To the OP - the servicing IMHO should be done religiously every 6k, don't scrimp on this. The S6 is not like a Boxster engine in that you can just jump in and go, you must warm the engine up properly beforehand which in the current weather can take a fair while.
The smile they bring to your face though will soon outweigh the annoyance of doing so.

Hi i have a 2005 Tamora with 24,000 miles on the clock.The only problem that i have had is the radiator,Had it replaced with a full alloy one,It has been serviced once a year by castle tvr and shows no sign of any clutch wear or any other problems,I use the car every week regardless of weather and keep the right foot on easy til oil temp is right,Its also on the original tyres,I do believe if you do not try to drive like a formula 1 driver all the time you will get 12,000 miles a year without too many problems,I have had 3.5 years of very happy TVR ownership and looking forward to many more, Go for it you won't regret it

Of course 12,000 a year is no problem. (see the thread with the 125,000 Tamora). I do over 20,000 a year in my T350, wherever I'm going, whatever the weather. Sure they're fun to drive with the roof off and the sun out but just because the weather is less than perfect it doesn't ever mean there is a car I'd rather be in than my T350.

yep - no probs, just dont scrimp on maintenance when they need it and look after it and it will be fine

my other half has used a TVR as a daily drive for about 4-5 years now, between 12 and 20K miles per year in a Tuscan, and then Sagaris for the last 3 years.

She is a very good customer of the dealer, as they would be seeing her every few months
