When someone mentions Pre-Production i thought it might have been in a condition that a concept stays in when its taken to a show ( buffed and polished)!
Im not being negative here but yours today at the show it does look like it has REALLY been used for some testing, fairplay to you keeping it like that though just to keep its authentication

I drove her up there, only had cold water to clean her in (it was also dark and pissing with rain), the Swissvax guys were going round the day after to polish the cars up - not my fault they missed bits, I only went up again today to pick her up.
The tape on the side rear window is cos its cracked and as its a different size, I have to get one specially made.
The tape round the front splitter is to protect it from the speedbumps in London - there is development in work from Ryan to make a cover for them.
Candy gets used almost daily whatever the weather, and I really dont fking care what you think.
I have just got back now, and so didnt expect this. I dont know why I fking bother.

Regardless of condition, Gaffer gets a 10 out of 10 for me for being a female rocking round in a Sag as a daily drive! Geez I get stressed when it starts spitting and I'm out in mine, (I keep mine as a second car for when I choose to take her out for a spin) Nice to see someone using one everyday who clearly doesnt give a fk (as stated) and enjoys the car (especially in London) regardless of what condition it is. I'd love to see the car at some point, and to be honest with it being a pre-production, I quite like the idea of it being a bit war scarred. T hats just me though.

Gaffer's car gets used. I don't believe for a minute it was put on a stand as some sort of concours exhibit but as a "special interest" item. If i saw a Le Mans winner on a stand i'd hope to see it battle scarred from the race, not with a shiny new coat of paint...
So many people get to see (and more importantly hear) this particular car because it gets used. Would you rather it was in perfect paint and sat in a museum where none of us would ever get to enjoy it properly? Didn't think so.

No judgement from me.I think everyone gets different things from car ownership and I think that what is correct is to use your vehicle for your purpose - even though at times it appears a criminal thing to do. Do I think Gaffers car is historically important enough to consider everyday use a crime - NO. When its been rebuilt in 25 years time, maybe then it well spend more time in cotton wool.
As an aside, I personaly don't subscribe to the "its used so it's an excuse for it to be black bright" but that's just me with ever such a hint of OCD. I saw the lemans winning Audi on display at Nurnberg this summer and it was as it finished the race. My first thought was that it should have been cleaned.

You are always on this forum bleating on about how "special" Candy is after seeing your car I was shocked at the condition it was in,yes its great that you use it and enjoy it.
Personally I like to keep my TVR in the best condition I can.
As I said before no offence was intended sorry if it touched a nerve.

Right a few things:
a) sorry for the outburst, I was knackered and hungry and sensitive so maybe I went over the top.
b) I have NEVER EVER said she was in concourse condition, she is my daily drive till Daisy gets back and so is subject to salt/stonechips etc etc
c) she is special in the fact that she IS the 1st Sagaris (had it confirmed at the show (cheers Chris and Graham) and the Prototype
d) some parts are worn and cracked through use, the spoilers have been damaged by speedhumps etc and there is development by Ryan to make a removable cover to protect them but that will take time as I am in London and he is in Cheshire, the side window is a different size to production models so will have to be made up - again by Ryan.
I cannot have her off the road to do all these bits till Daisy comes back.
As for the colour, I too was shocked that she was Orange at the Show, but thats because the lights were orange, if she had been on something like the Highways Agency stand with the bright white lights, she would have looked a lot more like her true colour.
I did clean her - twice, (thanks to the guys in the Clio for lending me a towel) and then I was told to put her in position and the Swissvax guys would do the polishing, it seems that they were only able to give a quick dust due to the amount of cars there. Now I know for next year, to polish her up myself.
She is so not a garage queen, I use her in rain, wind, snow, ice, hot weather - everything so with that will come damage. Sorry but I bought her to use, not to look at and take out every once in a blue moon.
I also dont, anymore, have the luxury of having a garage on hand to fix bits when they damage, its a 500 mile round trip.
This week cost a bloody fortune taking her there, day off work, train issues, hotels, trains back to the NEC and petrol.

Sorry Claire, it was non-intentional for it to be taken in a bad way. I had never seen the car before so i didnt know what to expect.I was only giving my personal opinion ( in a good way) towards the car and didnt want to start arguements, obviously not realising things that you want to get reapaired for it then i wouldnt have mentioned it. Yes, there is stuff to be done on her, but it will take time for the reasons mentioned.
She will always be work in progress due to being so different to production models, like the wing mirrors are from the Speed 12 - so need to get them cloned should I smash one.
Its an honour - and a pain - to own a car like her, but I wouldnt swap her for all the beer in Germany.

Also, didn't the icon stand cars have the full treatment to them? Shoddy job if so (according to the others - not opening up that particular can again!). it was something that was levelled against the valeting boys last year as well...
