Selling Advice Needed

Hi Guys
After a little advice from you lot. I'm going to sell my 03 Tamora at some point soon, I know the obvious advice is "don't do it" but needs must. Family life means a Land Rover is a bit more practicle than the Tam. I've had her for 3 years and loved year minute of it and hope to come back to the marque later in life.
Anyway, I just wanted to know what positive or negative selling experiences you've had. The company I bought her from have offered to take it back off me, the price is quite low but it would be hassle free. If i put it on the classifieds in PH or in autotrader I'm sure I could get more money but would i ended up with a load of jokers who want a free ride in an awesome car?

I have sold 3 cars through PH classifieds - no problems. Each went to good homes. I had no tyre kickers around to see the TVRs I sold (Chimaera 5 years ago and T350 this past week). You need to have patience and if the car is fairly priced, with the right colour/spec then it will sell. It helps if you don't live in Cornwall or the Outer Hebrides too though ... buyers will only travel so far!
Dealer trade in on TVRs is rude, mainly because they have to expect to sink the money for a good few months, especially at this time of year.
Why not have a go at selling privately?, you can always go to a dealer if it doesn't sell say by May (March/April springtime weather brings out the buyers).

Even if you only got £12k for your Tamora that would equate to £12k (50%) depreciation over 3-4 years which is very good value in my book. It is a misconception that TVR's are heavy depreciators and marques such as Porsche hold values better. I think that if you buy a TVR at sensible money, look after it and then present it well for sale you are hard pushed to find lower depreciators with comparible performance/enjoyment factor.

I used Autotrader and could have sold it several times over. I didn't get a single call out of the PH ad.
With hindsight (in light of the interest I saw) I probably could have got an extra £1,000 or so for it, but a deal's a deal.
If you really want to sell it, invest in a thorough valet / detailing beforehand, then spend £100 on a decent Autotrader ad.
That's based on my own experience - selling in Scotland mid-Summer. Maybe PH works better for those who live mid-UK?

PS You can usually ferret out the jokers by asking them why they are interested in the Tamora & what other performance cars they've owned. If they can't tell you a bit about the car, or don't currently have an S2000/Elise/Exige etc then they're probably not serious....

Agree with the other posts. I've sold all my previous cars through PH, eBay, and Autotrader, and never had an issue. A fair few irritating questions from tyre-kickers who have no intention of buying, but almost all of those have been filtered out with the odd email or phone call. And each time it's saved losing thousands on handing it in to a dealer.
I've never had one take more than 2-3 weeks to sell, either. Assuming you want a quick and easy sale, I'd start from the price you were offered and work up to a value to list at, rather than start at what dealer cars are advertised at and work down, though. There are a LOT of overpriced cars about from people not looking to sell in any real hurry at all. Entirely depends on how much of a rush you're in, though.
I'd agree on getting a professional valet done, inside and out. And writing up a good advert that covers all the details. Location wise, you're well-placed to sell it. And for specialist cars like this, people do tend to be willing to travel a lot, too.

Only adding this as I've seen a lot of not-quite-so-loved cars where you just know it'll be a mission to sell them without a bit of TLC first. Am guessing yours isn't one of those.
