Need a new battery - What size?

Hi Guys,

The Battery in my tam will not hold its charge so I need a new one but what size? It would seem 069 072 or 036 are talked about on here. I can't take the size from my current battery as it is not standard and does not fit the tray that well. Also anyone use a gel battery instead of normal?

The thread above was about my battery woes. In the end I went with an 069 as a replacement. The terminals are on the top not flush with the top of the battery which makes it easy to fit. Some of the books that say *** battery will fit are wrong! there is a groove molding on the side of the battery that holds it in place on the opposite side to the side that is clamped down, not all varients have this.

I would also advise taking the time to check the terminals on the cables and anderson connector as well as the cables themselves making sure there is no way they can ground on the frame. Also a good idea to improve the insulation by the +ve terminal as this can short on the heat shield as the exhaust is down there..... You don't want a fried TVR!

No Problem, should cost about £60 (3yr warrenty). Be carefull removing the 1/2" clamp bolt, if you dont hold the top side tight (nut welded to the clamp) it can twist the whole thing and dig in the battery. I also put some of that spiral wrap on the cables to minimise the risk of them rubbing through.

(PS not sure if you have done a battery before, not wishing to teach you how to 'suck eggs' if you have!)
